  1. It didn't occur to me to use an alt to verify the texture wasn't showing up *SMH*. I was also informed [in-world - thanks!] that the texture itself could be made 'no mod' [not just the object], which apparently keeps it from appearing too. So I suppose, just like in PS there are hundreds of ways to do something ... it really just depends on knowledge, workflow, and how you prefer to do things. Thanks for assisting with a few things I was lacking in that regard I know textures can be grabbed, so I get what you're saying however; these aren't MY mesh objects and I would like to sell the end item by making as much of an effort I can to protect them. I would also like to think I'm a 'moderate' user in SL but clearly, I'm missing things [O.o]. If any other major content creators want to share the process they use to lock their $*!^ down, I'm not opposed to hearing that information.
  2. I thought this too! I tried to follow the permission settings of another mesh object, but I still end up seeing my texture in the panel, which makes me think I'm not doing something right. I added an image layout of what my project in order to illustrate things [words are hard]. I have a few items like this too. The objects are usually linked and the alpha is applied to the outer-most object. If these objects can be unlinked, then you can move them and still see the maps used [unless the creator hid those as well]. That seems like a overly aggressive response. --- Here's a diagram of my current project and what I would like my end result to be. There is a GoogleDrive link HERE which also contains the reference image in the event that the image post is too large [it shouldn't be, it's only 692kb].
  3. Hello! I'm trying to figure out how to hide the texture used on a mesh object, so that you can't see/edit it when you: right-click > edit > "texture", on the texture panel. This has to be possible somehow, but I don't think I'm looking in the right place. I would imagine a script does this, but I don't know which one to use. I only need one texture on the clothing piece in question [so I don't need to use a hud], but all the scripts I've seen so far seem to use a hud. There's gotta be a simple solution that I'm just not seeing, does anyone have any point of references I should be looking at? Thanks
  4. Issues with importing .FBX to Maya (2018) ... So, I'm not sure if this is normal, but I'm assuming it isn't. After importing the JOMO model from the development kit into Maya, it looks weird. Does anyone familiar with Maya know what these weird blue lines around the model are? They're on every model EXCEPT the human male mesh, who is an altogether different kind of weird. Why does he have pieces of himself missing? Unable to select the model without clicking on a line and deleting them starts to warp and break the model. There is no 'Geometry' or 'Bones' in the 'Display > Layers' section, which seems important for rigging later on.
  5. Hello all, So I'm trying to find out more on the process of creating mesh clothing, skins, and objects and wanted to post some of the issues/success I'm having (so far). I'd make a post on a social media blog but I think that's too limiting. I thought this would be the best place for this since the community might be nice enough to point me in the right direction, give feedback, or my struggles might help other people pursue this whole process. For anyone trying to dive into mesh/model creation: The struggle is real! I haven't even made an object yet and I'm already having a difficult time trying to follow along with tutorials online (Check out CannedMushrooms and the MAYA Learning Channel as good learning sources). I've made stuff before using Blender and DAZ Studio's Hexagon but then life happened and I lost all those assets, so now I have to start over again and re-learn how to do everything (since I've forgotten how to do everything). In any case ... The goal of this post/thread/project is to share information about the JOMO mesh avatar, and the development kit. I like the mesh and the creator has made the model(s) available to content creators, which I think is pretty awesome. You can find the development kits for the; HUMAN (male), FOX V2 (m/f), LION V1 (m/f), HUSKY (m/f), WEREWOLF (m/f), & LEOPARD V2 from the original creators' Dropbox links as appropriate. Side note: I'm using Maya 2018 (student edition) and a Mac, so I don't know if we're going to see problems because of that but I'm willing to bet we will. --- Thanks for your time!
  6. Hello all, I've been in SL before but there are so many changes (with mesh) within the last few years that I can't seem to find some of the things I was used to. For starters, I was wondering what happened to a SL texture viewer, what I think was called 'SLMP (SecondLife Model Preview) viewer'. Whatever happened to it? Like I said, its been a few years so I may be confusing that acronym with the SLMP (SecondLife Market Place)? Do any 'older' SL residents know what I'm talking about? Also, I tried 'searching' for this topic but the search function either times out (too old a topic?), or gives topics that don't seem related to my terms. If anyone can point me in the right direction, and maybe move this to the appropriate thread, I would be very grateful! Thanks for your time
