I'm pretty naive on this sort of thing but can't you right click, then edit and move it so you can see it better?

Oh, check name tags off (in Firestorm). I was looking at the individual components of that section. Would be nice if there was a key combo but, then again, perhaps you have the ability to generate one. Thanks.

I'm sure this has to be simple but what terminology do you use to search? Everything seems to turn up how to switch things off that display above your own head. I want a quick shortcut that removes everyone's names from the display. Sure Ctrl-Alr+f1 removes the hud(s) but I don't want to do that. Also, usually they are above the heads but, why I posted this is because, I just had a disappointing session where they covered mine and my partner's faces. That was bad.

Oops 2nd problem is no problem. It implies pay the sign but, lol, there is a box underneath it. Arrgghhh!

I was disappointed at an in-game store a couple of days ago that (after asking if a discount was available) I was directed to a gift card machine at the store and, with the salesperson in attendance, spent nearly an hour trying to "pay" for the card with none of their suggestions helping even using another machine. I had sufficient funds but at no time was the option available and it wasn't greyed out even. The menu that appeared on right-click was much like I was clicking through the card, although it wasn't quite the same as clicking on the ground next to it. I was pretty exasperated and more so that the store weren't prepared to give me a discount in some other way. Today, I went to visit a property for rent. I was shown it in a list from the rental company. I can't remember if "pay" was available when I first went there because I just went to look around. I went back to look a couple of times. It clearly shows that it is available to rent (i.e. not occupied and explaining to pay there) but I am not able to pay. This time it is on the right-click menu but greyed out despite my having plenty of cash. Not only that, there doesn't seem to be any way to im the renters. They have a website but no email address either. I am now so frustrated that I want to say "to hell with it" and rent another. The two problems may be unrelated but any idea why this is happening?

Thanks Venus... It is possible... not that I would ever shout at my partner, that I may have assumed that I could whisper to them in im On the other hand it could be intermittent. I'll live with it.

Searched but can only find people who don't want to. My problem is the reverse. First I was whispering without realising it sometimes and it was probably something to do with an accidental shift-enter combo. Then, I started using it more and it was fine (/whisper never worked). Then it appeared to be intermittent and semed to work in some places/under some circumstances but not in others. Now, at least whenever I want to use it, it seems to never work. Any ideas?

Thanks for the response. I think that both the things that I was interested in... - Ability to inhibit movement of an object when it comes into contact with other objects and - Ability to move rotation point of an object would be useful additions to the edit process. I'm surprised that they aren't available already

I thought it was a simple question, perhaps I am phrasing it incorrectly as I don't seem to be able to get an answer (in-game) from anyone. When I am in edit mode for a piece of furniture, for example, is there any way to inhibit movement of that object when it touches another object (or, at least have the outline change color when that happens), for example when it touches the wall, or the floor or a table, etc. ? For example, I have a hot tub that when rezzed is up in the air. I want to set it on the floor, against a wall. I thought that would be simple. I don't want to have to eyeball it, using the magnifying glass (or, whatever it is). I just want to move it down and sideways until it hits the floor and a wall. Also, while I'm about it, is it possible to change the orientation point of an object when rotating it? I have a violin, for example, and the default position was the wrong shoulder (the right shoulder). It was bad enough having to move it to the correct shoulder (the left) but having got it there, I needed to rotate it about the chin rest (for example) to position the neck of the violin in my hand and that is impossible, as far as I can see, unless I can move the rotation point from the center to the chin rest end.

Well, you were wrong and don't be so arrogant. There is obviously more than one reason why scripts fail and, as I have said, lag has never (well, extremely rarely) been an issue. It turns out that the beach towels and hot tub are under the name of someone who had been blocked. I discovered that by, following an im to the zone owner, with no response, I realised that there were names associated with objects in the zone and tried to im the person responsible for the towel, only to get a message that they were blocked.

It is simply not true. I have been using the zone for at least three months now on a very regular basis and I have only extremely rarely had a problem with lag and then it was minimal. The owner of the zone has made updates and, although that may be coincidental, and I am prepared to accept that I may have done something to cause it, the problem has arisen since then. This is not a lag problem, it is a problem with scripts not working.

Regardless of viewer (standard, Firestorm, Alchemy), menus are no longer displaying in a zone that I visit. There is apparently no problem in other zones. I frequent Skinny Dip Inn regularly. Within the last few days towels on the shoreline have changed. A right-click no longer offers the option Sunburn (lying down with left-click position changes) only Sit here. Having sat, I am no longer able to view/select an option to lie down. Other people are. There is a hot tub too and, having sat in the tub, I am no longer able to view/select from a menu to change my position. Other people are able to. I can go to other zones and bring up menus to change my position. Obviously, things have changed in the zone and this has apparently affected my ability to bring up these secondary menus. Why is this? I cant see how I can refute the answer given so I will update the question. It is simply not true. It is an age thing from the message but SL does nothing to enable me to overcome it. When it has happened attempting to go to other locations it comes back with a link that has a set of 3 numbers similar to an IP address (yes, shorter) but that takes me nowhere. I was invited to the club by friends and was there for about 10 minutes and got booted for the same sort of thing and now I can't go back there. Is there no definitive explanation anywhere? Update: Thanks but it was as simple as not having selected Adult in "I want to access content rated:" on Preferences under Me on the main menu. Sometimes it is the simple things :) I'm more concerned that the supposed link takes you nowhere and, as a newbie, I end up in a kind of limbo.
