  1. I don't actually think I will personally get anything from leaving such a suggestion. For example, I'm not hoping to send in a suggestion with the hopes they will suddenly make it on the spot. I just wonder if they got multiple suggestions for something, over time it might sway their decision making on the matter.

you and i know very well, 99% of the "facts" in these cases are drama. Not saying this is, but there's a lot more than there's told here.

If something is really wrong, a forum isn't likely the best place to start discussing this. Every well thinking adult could think about that.

I can agree in most cases it’s lies and drama. But it can be helpful for the 1% of real cases to respond constructively. Also, threads like these, while started in deception might be read later by real victims searching old threads for support for their very real cases.

Also, threads like this can serve as a reminder for everyone to take personal safety seriously and mind what you share with people.

there is more wrong here than what your "friend" tells..

she isn't allowed to give you the transcriptions, and if that has info about the accused stalker, she is in the same violation as he is.

Regardless of the 'rules,' it's just a fact that some people take screenshots and yes, share them. You can admonish all you want, but it won't change the facts. If this woman ended up hurt or dead because of this person, I doubt LL is going to go -- "She's in trouble for sharing screenshots." At that point, no one is going to care.

Hear say is never a good base to ask advice. If she is in trouble she has to take action herself.

I agree she should take action. I want to know how he got her information. Is there a weakness in the SL program that exposes personal information or is this a case where the girl was not cautious enough with what she shares with strangers.

For LL, Police or any other official you are not part of this unless you'r a legal rl partner of her.

Anyone can report suspicious activity to the police. Anyone

If you reported him, theres a huge chance your reports is simply trashed. Many of these things are seen as resident/resident issue and LL will not take action. There has to be a serious breach of TOS first. And if she shared her contact info/rl information, it's out of control of LL, she has to contact RL officials.

Agreed. OP's ticket will probably end in no tangible result with LL. Also, everyone needs to take responsibility for their own safety by being prudent with what they share online.

Since many hair folks give away the pastels as gifts, that leads me to believe they are the least salable.

Wow! What a shift in perspective than my own. I have this weird quirk about my avatar -- I can change clothes, accessories, and hair, etc -- BUT the head basically stays the same for years and the hair is 99% of the time, a shade of pink. It's sort of like, I can't change eye color (permanently) irl -- my avatar doesn't want to change hair color. It's her 'signature' look. It means, I will spend top dollar as long as the color is right.

Thank you, everyone, for your thoughtful responses.

  5. If you are close enough friends with her, get her phone number so that you can check in on her if she doesn't log in for a while. If she doesn't want to give her real phone number, there are apps on phones now that will giver you a 'burner' phone number to use.

What makes you think this harasser knows where she lives though? Lots of people can threaten, but is this friend of yours giving out personal details as to her location for this person to know?

I doubt you can do much more with LL than report. Maybe your friend should use an alt for a few weeks and let this thing blow over with the harasser. They will probably get bored and move on if there is no one there to interact with. (That means you can't interact with them either)

  6. Here's the situation that prompted me to write this post:

I found a really cute hairstyle on sale on a blog which prompted me to visit their inworld store to demo the item. I was dismayed to find they don't offer pastel color huds though. They had all the "normals," but no pastels. I loved the design though, so decided to check out the rest of their store. Unfortunately, none of their items are sold with pastel pack options. This is unfortunate because my avatar 99% of the time has pink hair and 1% of the time a crazy, unnatural red.

I looked around the shop to see if there was a suggestion jar (I've seen these from time to time), but alas, no.

As a store owner, would you want a customer like me to reach out and let you know what prevented me from buying your product? Or, is it more of -- "I make what I make. If you don't like it, go somewhere else" sort of deal? I don't feel entitled to say YOU MUST MAKE MAH STUFFFZ. That's not what I'm intending the message to be of this post. There are hundreds of other stores I can go to. I'm just trying to feel out what merchants think of situations like this.

Edit: This reminds me of a similar situation I was in last year. I found a clothing store that had the PERFECT style for me. The clothes were just spot on for what I was looking for. But there were no demos of the items! This store looked polished, I wondered to myself if there was some mistake or glitch. I thought about contacting the owner to let them know that what stopped me from purchasing from their store was the lack of demos. But.. I just left...

  7. Do you prefer notecards when you aren't online? I love your profile.

You can look up my profile online if you'd like, but a bit about me:

    • 31/F/US/SL-2
    • Only looking for platonic relationships. Married irl.
    • I love decorating, and am interested in trying a roommate situation if we click.
    • I enjoy reading (mostly urban fantasy), video games (psychological, RPGs), hula hoop dancing, netflix binging (especially crime stuff and documentaries)
    • I have no RP experience or inclination
    • I love Munchkin <3
    • Discord friendly
  8. It's not just you. Friendship seems elusive and fleeting here. One tip is to message people here on the forums who post 'looking for friends' ads, though they can be hit or miss too. Another suggestion is to read someone's profile and send a message that relates to it. For instance, I once saw a quote in someone's profile. I shared my favorite quote from the author and thanked her for sharing a quote I hadn't heard yet. She was happy I shared the quote she hadn't hear. It's a nice way to slide into a potential conversation. Way better than 'hey how r u'

Some folks like to feel bigger than others. Grammar and spelling trolling is an easy way to knock someone down a peg.

There's a difference between being helpful and being derisive.

    1. You did this to knock people down.

    2. You were not helpful, and in the end through your mockery, you were derisive.

I would suggest figuring out who they support in the US 2016 election and put up support sign for the one they dislike.

MAGA sign helped me get rid of one problematic neighbour lol

This is funny.... I specifically bought land next to someone who supported a certain candidate just so I could put up the opposite sides propaganda.

    Fun times.

  11. I’m in school for court reporting ... machine shorthand. We learn to write a minimum of 225 words per minute at 95% accuracy, although in the real world there are times when people speak faster. We don’t use a keyboard..  it’s a special machine and a completely different language. So we hear English, translate it into steno and write really fast all at the same time.

I am constantly awed by a fully blind student who is almost done with the program.. a program that only about 5% of most seeing students complete.
