  1. I've been trying to log into the Aditi preview grid to test a new mesh I made. I can log into the preview grid just fine, but as expected, I need to take the Aditi mesh quiz thing. I follow the link in the viewer and I end up on a white/blank screen. I've tried using this direct link in my browser: https://secondlife.aditi.lindenlab.com/my/account/mesh-landing.php and that didn't work either. I've found another link from someone who had the same problem as me here: https://secondlife.aditi.lindenlab.com/my/account/ip/tutorial.php but unfortunately that one does not work either. Is there any way around this problem? EDIT: That second link seemed to work after refreshing several times. Any one else experiencing the same problem might want to give that one a try.
  2. Wow, what a great tutorial, thank you. So what you are saying is I can make a nice detailed railing but give it no physics to keep the LI down, then just link a transparent wall to it in game to stop avatars from walking through it? I wonder if this would work for stairs as well. Just use a ramp of sorts, although the animation may look slightly funny. Thanks again, that was a huge help.
  3. Hey thanks for the replies! I have decided I should try messing with Blender if I am going to be modeling more in the future anyways. I do have a question though. If I were to create several mesh objects in Blender then link them together, how many prims would it be in SL? Let's say I make a railing with a top hand rail and 5 posts. That's 6 objects in Blender total. Once imported would it be 6 prims or 1 prim? Thanks again. Oh and Madelaine McMasters, I guess I can always push them down the stairs!
  4. Hello everyone! I recently became a member and I opted for the Aspen Linden Home. I have been working on putting a small loft in but I am having trouble making a railing. I know the best way to do this would be to just place a flat prim up and texture is with some sort of "railing texture". The problem I am having is "cutting" the railing prim at an angle to meet the A-frame shape of the roof. Here is a picture of the loft floor and the angled roof I am trying to butt a prim up next to. [Imgur](http://i.imgur.com/J97a88z.jpg) I have tried using a box prim and the pyramid prim. I just really have no idea where to start, could someone help me out? Thanks in advance!
  5. Not sure exactly what I did, but the alphas are working again. I left the sim and came back and it seems to be working now. Has this happened to anyone else? Andy
  6. Hey everyone. I was just at HAPPY HIPPO trying to learn some stuff and I was having the hardest time building a potted plant. For some reason i could not see the alpha texture I created. Occasionally it would appear until i moved it too much and it would disappear again. I decided to clear my cache manually and to see if it would fix my problem. It did! Or so I thought. I went into prefrences, graphics, advanced, and maxed out everything. I applied the settings and went back to my plant and it was gone again. I tried to load another one and i saw the alpha texture this time. I deleted it and since then I cant get another one to load on my screen correctly. I just see the plant pot, not the plant itself. I can see the plant on my girlfriends computer so i know its there. I'm sure this isn't a performance problem. I have a $2500 gaming computer I built myself, and I have never had any problem running SL with the settings maxed out. My PC setup is as follows. Processor: Intel i5 2500K Sandy Bridge 4 core overclocked to 4500Mhz. Graphics: 2x GTX 570's in SLI overclocked Memory: G Skills RipJaw DDR3 1600mhz 8Gbs HDD: 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black SATA III 6mbs/second Amy ideas? The weird thing is, am sure I have seen other alpha textures in game. No problems or anything. I really would like the play with shadows on. It makes the game look 100x better. Thanks Andy
  7. I have been looking at renting some land and I can't for the life of me figure out how the owners are making money. Most homesteads I have found rent for about $7500L a week. Thats 30000L a month. And with the current exchange rate, thats $112.07 US. The homesteads cost $125 US a month to maintain from linden labs. How are they making any profit?! I've found it to be the same for the most part when the land is divided even further. I see 1/2 homesteads for sale for 3900L a week. Which is 15600 a month, which is $58.28 US. Multiply by two and they are making $116.56 US a month. Can anyone give me an explanation of how this is all possible? The only thing i can assume is that they region prices might be grandfathered. Maybe the land owners are paying $75 a month for the homesteads or something? I feel like such a noob even though i just had my 7th SL birthday, haha. Thanks for taking the time to read this! Andy
  8. I thought it was very interesting. Although, the entire feel of the documentary was "creepy", and it was intended to be that way. They really focused on the negative and didn't take the time to focus on why these people enjoy SL. Mostly just how it has ruined their lives. Either way I highly suggest watching it.
