Yes, I'm a newbie, and I have no idea what these different viewers are, like Firestorm or Pheonix. I played with SL many years ago but it quickly outgrew my computer, so I just quit. I never got very far and I think, back then, getting dressed was a couple clicks and you're done. So, I have a new computer and decided to try again. Very different today. But I downloaded and installed what I thought was the latest release for a SL viewer, that was two days ago. Now, already, SL is telling me that there is a newer version. It wants me to download 2.8.3.238392 and I assume that is specific for my Windows 7/64bit system. So, I don't understand what all these "names" are and if they are specific viewers for specific platforms. Are there certain advantages that some viewers have over others or should I always be downloading whatever SL recommends?

Thank You Luschious, that helps explain a lot. This has turned into a complicated ordeal but that's what makes it so interesting. I played with SL years ago when it was new but it quickly outgrew my computer's capabilities, but I have a new computer now so I'm starting over. There is so much to learn.

So, now, I'm fairly haapy with my appearance, at least as far as what it looks like on my machine. But what is it with the dang shoes. I can't figure out how to put them on. Maybe I'm not buying them correctly. And, just as another side-note, my avi on this forum seem unavailable, it's like all the selection boxes are blank??? Oh well, I guess that's the fun part, learning all this

Thank you both so much, awesome! Actually, I did figure this out last night after reading through a lot of other people's posts. I bought a pretty cool skin. It has tan lines and everything, looks pretty good but so far, I don't seem to be able to do my makeup or anything like that. I still have my nooby student eyes but I didn't see where I can do eyeshadow or any kind of makeup now. I'm thinking the skin I bought isn't edit-able. Not a big deal right now, still shopping for clothes. That's pretty frustrating, It seems, I can't ever tell what are clothes I can buy and wear as compared to objects that I buy that I can't wear. Still have to figure that one out. And Griffin, cute, don't worry, wait till they find out I'm not the kind of girl they think I am. ;-)

From reading through these messages, I am guessing this is the 'biult-in nooby" underwear? How do i get rid of it?
