  3. Prolly as others suggested you got some of those fancy roaming pets. well prolly they were trying to go into your neighbor's area ( bad bad wild cats). Try maybe using the terraform to limit your parcel, making walls come out from ground or a box with hollow to mark your edges huge prim or a low prim mesh frame with simply physics like a cube that'd be even better.
  4. Hi to answer your question I can say that if the account has been blocked it's for security measures, so as you couldn't login with it also the lamer who did this couldn't do it. I would akso ask you, to help you guessing what happened and try to avoid this in future: Did you share with anyone your infos for login? Did you ever clicked on marketplace links that they posted in your IM chat box? They might have phished you in this way Did you use your SL username and password on any other extrnal site/forum/blog? Did you use only and exclusively SL viewer or approved viewers? Actually to do this they need a keylogger that could be installed in bad lame viewers if you downloaded any . Another golden rule is also to never share your email connected to your account with your friends. If you really trust but only if you trust use a different mail (maybe temp so just in case you also dump it) Be also always careful to never let them collect data that could drive them to guess your backup solutions just by talking with you, hide your real interests fake them change them,when you talk even with your closest friends in secondlife, even if you might know them in real world. Really often the hacker is someone who has been knowing you enough to apply what in tecnical talk is called social engeniring. A part this now what you ptrolly have to do is to contact lindenlab and prolly they are goint to make you fill a questionary with several questions related to your account, maybe you could be asked also of a real life document. If after this you can get back your account then change the password. Anyway I would just destroy it cause you don't know now how they have compromise it : if it has been cause they keylogged your password or cause they cracked your backup infos. So make another and make it stronger this time. Well what you describve there it's so true and it's a plague.It happened also to a Japanese Friend that I know they took his items from store and put them on marketplace. the thiefs were also so dumb to use the original photos like in this case with a real rough edit on it prolly done with windows paint ( it must have been really a child or a bad lame judjng by the edit they did on photos still recognizable as from the original maker). 1) If you own a store to avoid that this could happen I suggest you to use in your vendors scripts that connect it to a central distributor away from the store area. 2) Another trick would be to do what I call the Chinese boxes trick: it would consist in putting the box of your items in another box ad them in the vendor. Both those tricks will prevent lamers with lame hacked viewer from taking your items from your vendors rezzed in store. They can still do it though from private residents hanging around who bought items and worn them. If you watch the youtube and you are a youtuber or fan of video you could see how those braggers are now doing several criminal activities like the one you describe.They are also so dumb to make videos of their crimes like those streets pirates who make you risk to die and make videos of their movie to post on youtube. Possible solutions? Idk if there are some really working least it would be really hard to stop this pehnomenous but it could be a way to make life for those bandits harder. Actually meshes are a pain in the ass for many of those thiefs, for the simple reason that those kids ( in many cases they must be kids) can't get a pay info on account . This is the reason what they really would scream and go wildly crazy when the product they attempt to copy is a mesh . Maybe this could be a solution if extended also to other kind of uploads such as animations ( like in your case) or shapes, hair sculpts , textures... I mean in other words there is no way to stop them from stealing, but we could fight them in another way, forcing them to come out with real identities to upload as they should do for meshes. I see on marketplace also tools that you might install in your parcel to detect residents on illegal viewers. but I don't know if they really would do their job. As personal experience I can tell yuo that we installed one of those tools to keep away griefers residents in my friend's parcel but my friend got griefed the same with lots of prims rezzed on the parcel even if rezz was not allowed. I avoid to say the brand here to not defame the maker , but that tools and any other tool like that couldn't really safeguard your store. This means that those tools don't do their job or that, as it is shown on some youtube video, they can use spoofing features on their viewer making appear good what it is not.

If you're here it means that for several reasons you can't login in secondlife and you get as feedback that pity message that says all and nothing "DNS cannot resolve host name bla bla bla bla..." This can happen for several reasons. 1) if your internet or if your internet provider have iussue or it is doing a rolling backup maintenance 2) if secondlife is doing a rolling maintenance or if the grid has iussues 3) if you got griefed and disconnected by one of those users who are around with lame hacked viewers that would allow them to crash targeted residents ( as you could see in many video that those braggers publish on youtube). In any case for any reason if you get that message it's cause your DNS got cached and it's time to refresh them. Many people tried to fix this just by tools or programs that they use for pc mainenance or just using a commandline ipconfig /flushdns. That's not enough, we need just few more steps to fix the iussue.ipconfig /flushdns alone is not enough to deeply clear your dns cache as it's not always a good choice using tools to do it in automatic way. So first of all let's see how to fix this in Windows. For windows Before we start clean your browser cache and history and also secondlife viewr cache and history , if you haven't set it up to do it at each restart. The following guide will work with any versiion you got : windows XP, windows vista, windoes 7 , windows 8 The guide might seem a bit long but, as you know, if you want things well done you must get your hands dirty. So let's click start and go to accessories then find the command prompt ( it's shown as a little black square) don't click it but right click and select from menu "run as administrator" Type your administrator account password when asked by the program now you are runing the command prompt ( our good old ms DOS window) in the command prompt just type the following commands: ipconfig /flushdns net stop dnscache net start dnscache ipconfig /flushdns Wait and don't close the command line yet just minimize it. so let's click start and then go to control panel Find your network adapter (depending if you have a wireless network or no) click then on network or on local area connection at this point you should see the local area connection window Percect! At this point select from the window above INTERNET PROTOCOL VERSION 4 (TCP/IPv4) then click PROPIETIES At this point you should see the window below We are going to install now a static Ip adress for your machine and also to set DNS adresses if you don't know how to fill the first part of this window go back to the command line and type this command ipconfig you will see something like the window below In this window I have used a yellow frame to show you what are the calls that you need to consider at their right side you find for each of them the sequence of number yhat you must write in the internet protocol version4 window. The second part of the INTERNET PROTOCOL VERSION 4 asks you for DNS adresses. You can find in internet several lists for primary and secondary DNS adresses here is one http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/a/free-public-dns-servers.htm you chose two and those will be the first and secondary DNS then just in case they might fail we can dd also others . To do this from the INTERNET PROTOCOL VERSION4 window at the bottom of it click ADVANCED. Now you can see your DNS listed and clicking on add you can add more of them. Now close these window clicking ok, but don't close yet the command prompt. Go again in the command prompt and type this command ipconfig /registerdns optional : if you wish to see if the DNS cache has been cleaned, you can type the following command and hit Enter: ipconfig /displaydns wait untill it says that it is done, then close all and reboot your pc. At your next login anything should be fixed. Of course this would work when the cause is due to your DNS that got cached, in other words if the iussue is client-side. This won't help you if your Internet provider is doing maintenance or if Secondlife is doing maintenance. To check if secondlife grid is fine just visit their blog : http://status.secondlifegrid.net/ If after this you still have iussues with indows a dirty trick is to use just set up your Ip adress and DNS as auto (dynmic ) from the internet protocol verswion 4 windows that we have seen above. For those using an internet protocol version6 the procedure is similar just selecting internet protocol6 instead of 4 and doing the steps above. For Linux to flush the dns use your command line then type: /etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart press Enter and your cache will be flushed. For Mac Go to applications then Utilities then - For MacOS type:dscacheutil -flushcache and hit enter - For MacOS X leopard type : lookupd -flushcache hit enter. -For MacOS Lion type: dscacheutil -flushcache hit enter -For MacOS Tiger just type: lookupd -flushcache hit enter and your dns cache is flushed. :matte-motes-sunglasses-1: Extra tips: Don't touch any object that asks you to connect to external site for any reason even if they want you to do it to tyake you to work in some pub, club or locals of any sort . I've seen people around with strange tools also declaring to test their workers through some machines to grab their IP adress and mac adress, for what a mac adress would ever help them.Hovewer collecting ip adresses associated to names made by private residents is an illegal practice in many countries plus knowing your adress they might get you down with an attack so just say NO NO NO . This is even more important for residents using an optical fiber connection or for those whose provider keep them line in a big LAN with few internet adresses . Do not click on links or login on pages that look like Secondlife page, but always use your browser to look for it. Never direct click on youtube links but read the last serie of signs after the = and type those in a youtube page that previously you had open Never visit private sitres or fora or blogs without a good proxy. Disable auto play media in your secondlife viewer and also play media on object. If you do not need it for other things it's also good to not use java virtual machine nor any other exploitable plugin as Quicktime.
  7. Hello I have been building a sword for GM (gorean meter). I have added stances to it, following the notes that I have found in the meter. I paste you here what I have added. First group of stances is for: speed, meters, range <0.57, 2.55, 180.00>, <0.58, 2.60, 180.00>, <0.62, 2.70, 180.00>, <0.64, 2.75, 180.00>, <0.65, 2.80, 180.00>]; The second list of stances is for: damage, meters , stamina damage [<15.0, 2.50, 15.00>, <15.00, 2.55, 15.00>, <15.00, 2.60, 15.00>, <15.00, 2.70, 15.00>, <15.00, 2.80, 15.00>]; This of course should be for a female sword for the male version I have exchanged 15.00 with 20.00 My question is is this second configuration ( the one for damage, meters and stamina damage) legal for what you know. is there anybody who has configured a sword for GM meter? I mean the list of stances in blue. I configured the damage stances in this way cause in the GM note I read this: Base strike types: punch - 5% kick - 10% (down to 9% and up to 11% with enhancements) sword - 15% (up to 20% with enhancements) trap - from 6 to 15% great - 30% Thanks for your help. oh Just in case there are also dcs and ccs sword builders, do you know where I could get some notecards with dcs2 and ccs legal configuration?

I'm not sure how you expected that that would automatically inform me that the model you posted was the "more" version. It could just as easily have been the "less". You didn't specify. In any case, I'm not sure why you might have thought that simply adding more subdivisions would in any way affect SL's sizing requirements for models. No matte hor many times you subdivide a model, it remains exactly the same size. Also, the model you posted did not appear to have been subdivided at all. All appearances were that every vertex had been placed deliberately. None appeared to have been generated as the mere result of splitting larger quads into collections of smaller ones. Perhaps your definition of "subdivision" in this context is something different from the standard terminology? Because it's a public forum, the answers are intended for public viewing. Therefore, whenever any of us sees an opportunity to help inform the public on an important topic, we should always take it. I do that whenever I can, and so do most of the other people who frequently participate. It's how we all learn from each other, and it's a great thing. That's exactly what happened here. When I suggested ways to reduce your model's poly count, I wasn't scolding you for having created it the way you did. I was trying to teach every reader how to examine a model, spot areas that can be reduced, and then do it. If you don't choose to change your belt buckle, it's no skin off my nose. The 300 or so extra polygons in that little buckle aren't about to make or break anyone's frame rate. But a certain percentage of the peole reading the post will end up applying the same principles to their own models, and the people who learn from them will do likewise, and that very likely will end up making a big difference, to the benefit of us all. The rampant lack of optimization of poly counts is one of the biggest problems SL faces right now. Until and unless people learn to use as few polys as possible in every single model they create, SL will never run as smoothly as it could. For everyone's benefit, it's important that we continuously talk about the subject. We've done exactly that with other, equally important topics, and it's made a tremendous difference. Texture size is a good example. While it continues to be a gigantic problem, it's nowhere near as bad as it was before we in the forum community began making a point of talking about it as often a we could. Very often, the "common knowledge" that permeates SL begins right here on the forums. I'm not about to stop doing my part to hep fan those flames, and neither should you. Now you seem to be saying poly counts were in fact part of the question. You do understand that subdivision counts and polygon counts are ultimately the same thing, right? Orcas will often kill other whale species, for no apparent reason. Dolphins brutally murder porpoises, and on occasion, other dolphins. The fossil record strongly indicates that mososaurs killed other mososaurs as a matter of course, but did not eat them. Heck, even the two dogs I grew up with used to kill squirrels and chipmunks all the time, just so they could play with the dead bodies as toys. (It was awful to witness.) No, we humans really aren't very different from those with whom we share this planet. We are animals, just like any other, even if we sometimes prefer not to admit it. A teacher should be super partes, should show but being humble, knowing that teaching is an osmosis process of giving and getting back. If all the buckle is going to do is sit flat against the belt, no one will ever see the back. Along those same lines, the cylindrical portion doesn't need to be a full cylinder. A half cylinder would work just fine. Also, the cylinder doesn't need to have nearly as many sections as it has, just to read as round on-screen. Right now, it's got 16 sections. That could be lowered to 8, or even to just 6, and it would still seem round from most viewing angles, as long as the normals are soft. There's a little indentation, where the cylindrical part meets the rectangular part, on both ends. That would be more efficiently suggested with texturing than with actual geometry. Finally, there are quite a few places where there are unecessary quads could either be reduced to tris, or eliminated altogether. With the above changes, I was able to get it down to 110 tris instead of 484, in just a few seconds, and it looks pretty much the same. If I wanted to spend a few more minutes, I could likely get it even lower. From the distance at which people typically view a belt buckle no one would ever know the difference. ETA: I forgot about the added cube. It doesn't need to be a whole cube. It could be just a single triangle. So, make that 111 tris. Well Thanks for the help Chosen few .   11. Hello I have a question about the size of meshes. I am building some stuff where I'd love to add some little belts.The whole structure worked for me and for resizing but some parts of it , if to small get deformed. I'll be specific. What is bugging me is a little fibula for a belt. The size should be not bigger than 1,5 or 2cm but if I do this in maya, in blender and then upload it it gets deformed, say "fatter" on the X axis. To let it show as it should I have to make it bigger. To try to fix this problem I did some tries: 1) I was surer to lock the model before exporting it using layers too. 2)I tried with more polygons and less (nothing changed) 3)I've tried to resize it in world with a script but nothing changed as well 4) I checked again all the polygons to see if there was some bad polygons or edges shared by more than two polygons and there was none. After all this I thought ok maybe it's the shape that might be not rendered good. So I changed shape and procedure to make that belt. This one had as start a cylinder I made others from a torus and from a cube too but the result wouldn't change I get the same iussue when the size gets small (2cm ) like the one I'd need.   12. Hello I am having some odd experiences when I test meshes lately in betagrid I will tell you what happens. First of all before I go on I tell you I made a model and it works perfectly in maingrid, the rig the model the structure and all. I am using only Secondlife viewer 3 and secondlife viewer 3 beta hence i realized that those are theones that work at best for mesh uploading. Here comes what I saw in betagrid. I realized that when I try the same model in betagrid there are iussues. The viewer takes forever to complete the last step to upload it. After several tries I managed to get it in betagrid too (guess why it failed before) But here comes the fancy thing. When you have uploaded the mesh in betagrid if you log off and then login there again, the mesh is no more stored as before in your object folder but if you look for it what you find is just a link that says" broken link " or something like that. Question have you experienced this iussue too?
  13. Ok guys here is an update about what is going on. See if you ever got something similar. I changed the region too in betagrid, and also tried to click the balance on the viewer? But nothing changed. I haven't updated my file infos again . I open the web page of my account for aditi , I check the transaction history and I see that I should have all the money that Echo and marigold sent me. But when I go back to the main page and check the balance it mirrors the actual balance of agni that is really low. This is so buggy. Why is this happening?

I still see the balance as it was. Today a friend tried to send me in aditi 1000L and it failed as well. What it shows is just the few peanuts I have in agni. After yours and my friend's gift, I also login in the aditi web profile and check my balance and it is the same as the one on agni is. https://secondlife.aditi.lindenlab.com/ Is it a betagrid thing or could be it related to the viewer? Hmmm but if it was the viewer least on the aditi web profile it should show the right amount, shouldn't it?

  18. Hey Dilbert . Well that's the first thing I did as I saw that my money was gone I started looking for solutions. I got in touch with Oksar Linden I sent him an IM and he replied me "ok" .After that other 24 hours are passed but my balance in betagrid stays like that.If you read well my first post you see why I am so crazy about this, cause I've already done all the steps that one could do to get it fixed. About the other question my account well hasn't much now but just few to allow me not many tests. After all as you may know all the flux of money that we had there in the past came from our spent money in main grid. I had a good amount after all, cause I earnt and recharged also a few with this account but now well anything is gone for goods. The whole system of mesh needs some reviews. I think that this strict control over the payment infos and real infos and questionary in betagrid will make it to hard and discourage many residents from building meshes in secondlife. True that using the pay info would make easier to persecute those who infringes the law , but mesh is not the only way that they could use to infringe copyrights: I see sculpts doing even worse than meshes could do infringing many copyrights. The sculpts can be uploaded by anybody and as if it is not enough many meshes could be converted manually or by specific programs into sculpts.I saw many items and characters made by sculpt prims using the name of the game or the movie where they have been taken from. Will sculpt map be no more allowed then in secondlife? I'd just allow to upload meshes the ones who have Real info on file and who have completed the questionary plus I would also make free uploads for mesh for the above residents in aditi. I know that to some residents who think like me this would appear like the discovering of the warm water and to others that are not agreed with me it would appear like a thorn twisted in the side, but this is what I think and for sure meshes systemis not perfect. a part that SL doesn't allow all the collada format to be uploaded as bluemars did so you have to be a sort of equilibrist and acrobact between programs to guess the right one it wants for rigged meshes for not riged meshes.

  20. hmm well here comes the oddity . I knew that password could take me for a few out from aditi. However when I changed it just few minutes later I logged in in aditi and poof I was there, inventory and my look updated , but all the money went. It shows the few peanuts that I have in inworlds not the amount that allowed me to test freely in adity. Begging for money hmm is something really not fun hahah well I neglect that hypothesis. I think that they should enable free uploads in aditi something like in os grid and some communities that use it now,something like in inworldz that is an os grid afterall. The problem is I trust less testing my stuff in os grid where is a Far West of viewrs and there are a good amount of bad ones around well disguised as legal viewrs too. If they intercept your stuff in os grid then LL couldn't help you cause it happened out of their administration and out of their power. in inworldz the uploads are always free also in maingrid but..... I don't trust much testing my stuff there either. In Inworldz anything is free to upload, texture,animations , sounds, sculpt maps, and meshes too and I mean free in maingrid.

  22. Thanks, knowl, but the problem is still there. 1) 24 hours passed since I' have updated my password in agni, so the wiki link doesn't help for that. The inventory is updated I hagve items that I didn't have before i betagrid but not my money. The money I had before is gone and it didn't came back. 2) hmmm about the hypotesis of transferring money to an alt ... I didn't think that money went lost after an update of password, so that other link leaves me speachless as well. So what should I do to see my money in betagrid or least to gain them?
  23. Hello if I write this thred is because I don't know what else to do to gain the money for aditi to test meshes. My iussue started when I decided to change the password to my avatar. I have already done the questionary and I have already uploaded a good amount of meshes. After the change all the money I had went for goods. I was reading some posts in the forum so I IMed the linden that in the forum is pointed as the moneythree linden for betagrid. I got an answer but since then I don't see the money in betagrid. I read somewhere that after asking for it you should gain about 50 K to test your mesh. Is it so difficult? Is there another way to ask for money in betagrid or to gain it? Thanks
  24. I am not sure of which tail you need or if you have them already and wonder how to wear them. Anyway hereis a cheap trick, if you have got them and just wonder how to. If you have a furry avatar, there are a few big boxes around just pick the tail you like better. at its butt-side you should see a little sphere, if you don't see it ,then hit ctrl alt t ( all at once and it will become visible). Edit that tail and from edit menu tick in that window " edit linked parts" . So you edit just the ball you see and from tools,while you're editing it, you click "unlick".This will unlink just the ball prim and conraining the script( most tails have one for the movements). Now edit one tail and then hitting shift and holding it down select all the tails and link together. then it's the time of the prim ball take it and put it near the butt-side of that group of tails, be careful placing it in the middle the vertical and horizontal axes. then release edit. Edit again tails and then while you're doing it click shift, so click on the ball prim as last prim selected too( this will make it root prim), at this point from tool click link. Oh well this will help you, if you got the furry basic pack and wonder how to multiplòy your tails. Anyway ,if you have another tail not scripted, just copy it nine times and use that trick addingin the ball the script to move tails.
