  1. Gaia, I have run into another issue. Everything works fine with the weights attached to the bones, but if they are attached to the volume bones it distorts yet again. The volume weights want to go to the original rest pose. Does this only work for bone weights and not volume weights?
  2. That was the problem, Gaia! I must have updated the wrong version. It works perfectly fine now. Thank you so much for helping me with this problem. Glad to know I was doing everything right but just dealing with a bug.
  3. Thanks, Gaia! I updated Avastar but perhaps I downloaded the wrong one. I will check into that and give it another try after the weekend.
  4. Everything looks like it works properly in Blender after rigging. The trouble always started after uploading the mesh into SL. And I thought perhaps it might be a shape issue, so I tried all kinds of shapes, including the default one in SL. The same distortion happened.
  5. I will send you the blend file, Gaia. But be warned that it is very high in polycount. Since it was just an experiment I didn't reduce the polycount. You may want to reduce the poly for your video.
  6. Yes, that's what I did - uploaded the MD object into Blender and rigged and weighted it. I know the problem is in the rest pose in blender. The poses are different from MD to Blender. So that's why I was trying to change the default rest pose in Blender to match the pose from MD, then rig and weight it. Everything worked fine in Blender, but when I upload the pants to SL, the distortion shows, which means something in the pose for rigging and weighting isn't right. Thank you for the links, I'll check them out.
  7. I normally make my mesh from scratch in Blender but I wanted to play around with Marvelous Designer. So I made a very simple pair of pants to try it out. However, when I import the finished product from MD into Blender it doesn't line up with the avastar in Blender. So I try to bake a new rest pose to reflect the different pose that is in MD, rig and weight it, and upload it into SL, but I end up with some distortion. Here is a pic to show what I mean. You can see the bottom of the pants don't line up with the legs. I followed the directions Gaia Clary posted to another person on here regarding this, multiple times to make sure I wasn't missing a step somewhere. I always got the same outcome with this distortion. I updated Blender and Avastar. Still the same outcome. Here are the directions Gaia posted in another thread, and the ones I followed: Adjust the pose of the Avastar character to the pose which you prefer. That can be any pose you likeI personally would now store this new "default pose" in a pose library. (See the "object data" properties section of the character armature) but you do not need to use a pose library..Adjust your garment to your "default pose" as needed.Do a weight copy from the Avastar weights to your garmentIn the tool shelf you now find the function you need to proceed: "Bake T Pose": This function actually transforms your mesh into an equivalent T-Posed form, such that when the current pose is applied to that transformed mesh, it will end up looking like your original mesh. I'm sure there is just one tiny little thing I'm missing here to make this work. I just can't figure out what that tiny little thing is LOL! If anyone knows the answer I'd be very grateful. Thanks! :)
  8. Most creators follow the Standard Size shapes given here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Standard-Sizing-Package-Updated-Male-Female/2894727 . Apparently the vast majority of avatars are made with large posteriors and flat fronts. I honestly don't know why, and as a creator I have wondered about this myself. However, as a creator of mesh clothing I find it best to stick to the Standard Sizes, regardless of my personal views on the posterior, because it fits more avatars. This is where having deforming mesh would really come in handy, but LL seems to have stopped working on that, or something prohibits it's continued work to be released. Now, I know of one mesh creator that seems to make men's clothing WITH a flat posterior. I understand that this helps more shirts to fit better with the pants, but just wearing the pants alone or with a system layer shirt makes it look rather silly. And then unfortunately the shirts they make to fit these flat posteriors only work with the pants they make. Unfortunately, it's all creators can work with. We have to work around the problems the best to our ability, and making it fit with other creators' meshes is darn right near impossible unless you try to stick to the Standard Sizes. Our hands are kind of tied.
  9. I was having the exact same problem so I did some more searching and found that someone had answered someone else saying "Do you have it listed in a category?" For myself, I was like "Of course I did!" but thought "what else can I do? Better check just in case." Lo and Behold my listing lost it's category for some odd reason. I put it back in it's category, hit activate, and it worked. I don't know why it lost it's category, but double check yours and make sure yours didn't do the same. Hope it's the same easy fix for you as it was for me.
  10. This issue hasn't been fixed, not for me at least. Found a new JIRA was opened. Here is the link to the newly opened case: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-8174 . Hope they fix this for everyone.
  11. Thank you so much, Peter! This is awesome! You can email me at anniemelson1@gmail.com or if you'd prefer, you can IM me in world. I will be logging on soon and will be there for a few hours.
  12. Oh one more thing the scripts do in my "vendors" - it shoots me an IM too of what sells, which permissions, etc. I like that feature too. Also, if someone would rather create all new scripts with the promotion code possibility added, that is fine too. I'm not one to squirm away too much when it comes to paying well deserved L$. I just don't want to spend an arm and a leg for features that I won't use, even if they are available to use. Hope this makes sense.
  13. @ Annie - are you using the NOMS scripts by any chance? If that's what they are then I have the original source (ie; full perms) and can edit them for you. I don't know what the scripts are.... As far as I know the creator only used them for herself. I don't believe she sold them. So I highly doubt they are NOMS scripts. I could be wrong though... For the other commenters in this thread, here is more added info - The scripts I use are quite simple actually, but highly effective. People LOVE that they are given the choice of permissions, especially around holidays, which is why I do not want to get rid of this option. Here is a bit of how the scripts work. Scripters should be able to understand the mechanisms of how it works. I don't know how they work, I just know they do LOL! I insert 3 scripts into my "vendor" prims (I have no idea what they do), along with 2 notecards. I don't touch the scripts at all. All I mess around with are the notecards, in particular only 1 notecard because the other notecard remains the same after I make it do what I want it to. The notecard that doesn't change much is the Variables notecard. That's where I put the words Copy and Transfer in it. These are the keywords the script looks to for dispension (I believe). I can add more to this notecard. They are what is shown in the drop down box for the customer to choose. The main notecard - the one I have to change with every new item I put out - is the General notecard. Here is where I put the name of the item, how much it costs, the channel used (I have to put a new one in for each one), the amount of time before the vendor times out (will explain more below), and my email address so it can send me the information of the transaction (what item sold, which permissions, who bought it, etc). These scripts give a fixed amount of time of my choosing for the customer to decide which permissions they want. I have mine set to 90 seconds. If a customer fails to choose which they want from the drop down box the vendor will refund them their money. That's it. Quite simple, and I don't need a database created for an external website that I have to pay monthly for. (Please I mean no offence here, Nero... Just explaining what happens.) I honestly don't have a need for external database, even if there was a promotion code used. I can check my transactions daily and see how many times money was refunded and how much was refunded, and what item did the refunding. While a database and all that extra stuff would be cool, I'm just a simple gal. Extras and bells and whistles only overwhelm me and I tend to not use them anyway. I actually don't like to mess with scripts, but I do to improve my business, so the simpler the better, in my opinion. Nero, I'm so glad I inspired you with this idea, because frankly, I think it will be a big seller and make business owners quite happy! Even though I don't really want all of the features you are mentioning, I'm sure there are a ton of people who WILL! If anyone can help me with the simple side of it, I'd be more than delighted! Heck I'll Beta test it for you! I'm willing to manually put in the code of my choosing myself on a notecard, or if someone can make it really space age by having the script scan a webpage I have with the code and automatically add it that would make it even better so I don't waste unnecessary time. Nero, if you can do that, great! If you'd rather focus on your more indepth one, that is fine too. Peter, if you think you can do it, great too! Anyone willing to try this out and create it will definitely have a good product to sell.
  14. Actually, toysoldier, that sounds exactly like what I want. And no, I'm not being too strict - I was meaning exactly what you said in your 3rd thought. I was just trying to explain that I want to keep changing the code so the code doesn't last too long which then puts my price down to the discounted price continually. I suppose I'm not making myself too clear, but your thoughts are exactly what I was meaning. Your 2nd thought sounds wonderful! It'd be very good with something like that. Okay, now to tackle the main thought - the 1st thought. I own the "vendors." They are nothing more than prims with the pic of the clothing on it with the clothing inside in separate boxes (one that is Copy, and the other is Transfer). Unfortunately the person who created the scripts I use inside my "vendors" is no longer in Second Life. So I can't ask her to customize it. That of course would have been my first thought, and certainly more ideal, but it isn't an option I can persue. This is why I've put this out here in the forums. Perhaps there is someone who would be interested in taking this on - creating such a script that enables both to be done (which would be ideal)... Or could at least create a promo code system that I could put in a separate small prim under the original vendor that holds the outfit in Copy permissions only too (not ideal and more prim costly, but doable). I could be just dreaming an impossible dream, but something tells me someone out there just might be able to create such a thing. The eternal optimist, Annie Melson (LOL!)
  15. No, I can't modify the scripts already in the vendors, and yes, I do own the vendors. I don't mind people spreading the promotion code around, that is fine, but I'd like to be able to stipulate how long the code is activated, and be able to create a new code for another round later on.That way people who passed on the previous code won't be able to use it again. It has expired. I figured the pre-existing scripts in the vendors would create a conflict. If someone could create a script that allowed for the promotion codes along with letting the customer choose which permissions they wanted, that would be fantastic! I don't know if it can be done, but it would be wonderful if it could.
  16. Hello, all! I've been searching for a different kind of system to use to help promote my store and clothing, but searching hasn't found anything for me. So I'm hoping someone here might know what it is I'm looking for. :) My store carries clothing in either Copy or Transfer permissions. When you pay the vendors a drop down box will come up and you can choose what you want - Copy permissions or Transfer permissions, then whichever one you chose will be delivered to you. So I'm already using scripts in the vendors. And I don't need a gift card system because people can buy a transfer item and give the gift themselves to their friend. What I'm looking for is something that allows me to put a special "Promotion Code" in Twitter or Facebook or Blog that is special to those who visit those pages. Something that when they click on the vendor they can put in the promotion code and get the item discounted. But it has to also work with the vendor scripts I already have so people can choose what options they want. And I'd also like to be able to change the code, so the promotion is only limited time until I put out a new one. This way, people can't just save the code and keep using it every time they come to the store or pass the code on for others. That kind of defeats the purpose. I want it to be a special gift for those who watch me on Twitter or Facebook or my blog, etc. Does anyone know where I can find such a system? Or know of a scripter that I can contact to have this made for me?Thanks so much! :)
  17. Thank you everyone! I am going to start implementing deletable resizer scripts BUT will also keep the attachments MOD. And thanks so much for the Fix Small Prims script info!
  18. Thank you for all of the replies everyone! It really does help me design things to better please my customers, so I really appreciate all of the input.
  19. The reason to make the Combo option shirts is for when the design is actually meant for the inner shirt (ie. tank top from my earlier analogy) would hang below the outer shirt (ie. the polo shirt from my analogy) in the untucked style. If you want these to show as both untucked, you'll probably want to have the combo layer. If you didn't, then you could only have the outer shirt untucked. The inner shirt would be tucked in, which would then destroy the whole original style that I was going for. Now in most newer viewers you can wear multiple layers, like 2 jackets at a time, in order to acheive this look, but there are still many people using older viewers without the "Add" feature. So in this way having the Combo option is a good one. But again, this makes for a HUGE folder....
  20. I think my question is being misunderstood, so I'll clarify a bit. My outfits always come in all layers so people can easily mix and match with other outfits, so that is not a problem or part of my question. What I mean by options is having more than just the originally designed shirt added to the outfit in all layers. For example, I'll have a polo shirt, tank top, and jeans in an outfit. The Polo shirt comes in all layers, the tank top comes in all layers, and the jeans come in all layers. But the originally designed shirt was for the polo shirt and tank top to be worn together. Should the outfit just be simplified to the polo shirt and tank top as the "shirt" and have that in all layers? Do you prefer to wear the shirt as it is originally designed like this? Or should I have each shirt separate in all layers, and then have a combo option in all layers too? It just seems like too much to me. I'd go nuts getting an outfit with so many items in the folder. Yes have it all in all of the layers so mixing and matching can be done, but just not offer as many articles of clothing in one outfit? You know, just simplify it.
  21. Question -- Do you guys like to wear outfits as they are originally designed or do you like as many options as possible?? My husband does not like all of the options - he prefers to wear an outfit as it is originally designed. He likes to keep it simple. I admit I prefer the simple way myself too. I find too many items in a clothing folder to be overwhelming and confusing. What are your thoughts on it? (Edited to clarify) - I think my question is being misunderstood, so I'll clarify a bit. :) My outfits always come in all layers so people can easily mix and match with other outfits, so that is not a problem or part of my question. What I mean by options is having more than just the originally designed shirt added to the outfit in all layers. For example, I'll have a polo shirt, tank top, and jeans in an outfit. 22. I am a clothing designer that makes my own sculpted attachments. I currently use Jass-Pub-2.3.8 to make my sculpted parts. I am wanting to learn how to make mesh, but I do not want them rigged. I'm not a fan of full rigged mesh clothing as it is right now, but I am very intrigued about creating mesh parts to add to the system clothing I make. I have a lot of questions and would love any tips, tutorials, information. Can I use Jass-Pub-2.3.8 to make mesh attachments? How do I make unrigged mesh pieces? How can I add pieces, such as buttons, snaps, string, etc? How do I texture the mesh? Do I texture it in the program or is that added inworld like sculpties? Any help would be so appreciated! I'm really excited about this and can't wait to learn! :)
  23. Thank you for all of the feedback on this! I think I'll just stick to leaving the attachments Mod then. One issue that does pose a problem however is that when small prims are used with the attachments making the prim not size down far enough for some, there's not too much I can do about that.... Belts require small pieces, as well as detailed shirt cuffs, or jacket collars, etc. Without these small pieces the prim attachments fail to look like quality, no matter how good the textures are.... However, I wonder if using unrigged mesh pieces for the attached parts (they are just like sculpties) if that would resolve that problem?
  24. blakopal, that is beautiful! I love the idea of also being able to incorporate flexi to it if I wanted! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this. I am now even more intrigued about using unrigged mesh attachments. I make my own sculpted parts already. Do you have any tips for how to make mesh parts? I need to start figuring out how to do it!
