  1. Oh, my god. If SOPA passes, internet sharing sites based in the US will have to shut down for a while until all copyrighted material is eliminated. Don't know how long that may be, but I strongly suggest that, if you have received full-perm items in your inventory and it is uncertain if they are copyrighted material, DELETE THEM IMMEDIATELY. If you really want to get something for free, take advantage of limited time freebies while they exist. There are tons of places where you can pick up authorized freebies. YouTube probably has billions of videos on their server. If they contained copyrighted material (whether it be full TV shows or music), chances are that YouTube would hire more people for a short period in an effort to order a deletion on such material. They could even retrieve a list of recording artists and TV show and movie titles, and the owners could add a filter that would possibly allow the owners to key in the show title/movie title/recording artist and song title, and automatically delete them if they match those key words. I have a feeling that, if SOPA passes into law, those users will probably decide to delete their accounts out of grave fear, and their videos will go with it as well. I know, I had a handful of Card Sharks episodes on YouTube, but since I couldn't delete them individually, I felt I had no choice other than to delete my account. I currently have an alternate account on YouTube. While it will suck that I won't be able to download anything on any American site again (if the bill passes into law), I realize that, if it will help boost the dire US economy, I am all for it. Again, I STRONGLY urge all of you to search your inventory for full-perm items or items that you suspect could be full-perm. If you are uncertain if they are full-perm, DELETE THEM ANYWAYS. That may save SL any trouble in having to go through millions or billions of non-authorized items and SL may be down for a small period of time, if any.
  2. I have been experiencing problems with the newer viewers for some days now, and when I am dancing, my prim bare feet shows all my toenails no problem when zoomed in. Now, the problem is when my prim bare feet are zoomed out, and my avatar dances towards my screen, some of the prim toenails disappear. It's an issue, though not as big on Viewer 2, but worse on Firestorm. I tried adjusting the draw distance, and nothing. What should I do to fix this issue?
  3. I noticed this evening and yesterday evening that some prims attached to my avatar disappeared intermittently. Is this due to lag? Is it normal for SL to have higher volumes of traffic at this time of year? If so, I can understand why.
  4. Mayalily quoted: "One pair of hud shoes I have (which I don't use) has over 2,500 scripts running." My reply: Myself, I prefer going barefoot in SL - all the time. Though I do have prim bare feet and they contain a resizer along with color change HUD, plus it allows a sexy walk option. Not sure how many scripts run. But I never do use bling in SL myself. As for the person suggesting Phoenix or any v1.X viewer, I do admit, I use Firestorm. Maybe Firestorm is a flop or something. I will install Phoenix later on and see what happens.
  5. Hi, I am wondering why there is so much lag on Second Life since I joined Second Life in July 2009 and has become problematic in the years since. I couldn't believe how much lag is prevelant almost every time I log in. From what I heard, it may not have been that prevalent during Second Life's early years. I think the problem is, there are users creating a main avatar and several alts. This is the result from free registration implemented several years ago, and users may likely be taking advantage of the free registration. That said, in an effort to combat further lag problems, after the next server update, I propose the idea of reinstating one-time registration fees for FUTURE NEW AVATARS ONLY. Not too high a fee, but enough for users to afford one new avatar and maybe an alt or two. Current registered avatars would not have to pay any fees, but new avatars in the future would have to. Taking appropriate action is an important task and in an effort for avatars to enjoy Second Life without the presence of lag getting in the way. So, to the folks at Linden Labs, please consider this idea. Thanks, Darla
