I plan to get rid of it honestly, just haven't done it yet. But if I am going to be living here from now on and not paying rent, I believe LL can do better for the less fortunate of us that cant pay for land anymore..

The amounts of LI are fixed already as it would throw off the entire region's prim count.

However my suggestion is to learn about linking decorative items.  In many cases as you link mesh as well as regular prims together the LI count on those groups go down and you may very well find you can put a lot more on a Linden Home plot than you anticipated.  Before linking though make a copy of the items to be linked and then do a test link to see if the count does go down.  Sometimes it goes up.  And Just make sure you do not link hollow regular prims or sculpted prims in those links.

ability to rent out linden home, Airbnb style

Wow great way to absolutely destroy Bellisseria and turn it into horizons, bay city, nautilus.... Yes lets just fill it with Land Barons who swoop in with their 300 premium accounts and take up every good spot in Belli.... While we are at it let them put little hearts over the land or other indicators that something is a rental...

Lets just kill Bellisseria all together

What an absolutely STUPID idea turning Bellisseria into a rental business

How many times does someone have to say in this thread that most all outdoor furniture in Bellisseria is adult rated furniture and that people use theirs all the time. I really think you are missing this point. Even a mole eluded to this fact that there is adult rated furniture outside and that people use it discretely all the time.  This has been my point all along.  I'm not sure how many more ways it can be said.

Yes by the same Mole who also said that GOVERNANCE is the authority on this question.  Not him, not every rando who drops an opinion here, and certainly not you.  I don't think its an unfair question to ask Governance to articulate and define what THEY mean by "Behind Closed Doors"  This is also the last time i plan on engaging your endless responses.

I must have misunderstood your earlier comment because it sounded like you were referring to the adult continent as the dark corner.

the "dark corner" is referring to the idea that all adult activity in moderate land needs to be cooped up inside the 4 walls of a house or a skybox....

If Linden Labs officially describes "Behind Closed Doors" as simply inside your parcel but with the box for others to see inside the parcel left unchecks (thereby hiding the view of the parcel from outside the parcel) then honestly most folks at that point are not gonna care too much whether it is adult or moderate.  But if the definition of "Behind Closed Doors" is that you must also have 4 solid prim walls and a roof around you then yes i will certainly be one to continue to campaign heavily for an Adult Linden Home continent. Because at that point I cannot use my pool as intended... or my hottub... or my lounge chairs on my patio... or a number of other items i may be forgetting.  And not that i use them in that way that often but i sure as heck want that option to use them on my parcel when that moment arises

While not opposed to the idea of adult rated Linden Homes I can understand how they could be a governance headache for LL.

Can anyone else see the irony in people complaining about being hidden away in a corner while at the same time requesting their own Linden sponsored corner?  Because an adult rated area would need to be separate from the moderate regions or else what is the point?

The "hidden corner" is not a separate continent.  It is the regulation that adult activity in Moderate lands be "Behind closed doors" which is a concept we have been discussing for several pages now.

A separate continent enables an entire Adult version of a Bellisseria community to emmerge on its own  in a rated land area that does not come with the baggage of the morality police

Whoa there. I never said I was an authority on anything and I am not opposed to the idea of an adult Belli. I actually agree with you.

Some of the snark in my original message was not really aimed at you at all... Just the original part of my message about agreeing with your point.  However there are plenty of other folks in this thread who have and continue to do their best cancel out the idea of Adult Linden Homes.  And the best reason for that that i can gather is its not something they personally want and therefore have taken the position of complete opposition to it.  Would be like if I hated Brussel Sprouts (which i do) and thought that nobody should ever have them or if they do they should be forced to hide themselves in a dark closet far away from me to eat them

Years back, there was no such thing as parcel privacy settings. You could rez your dungeon of debauchery many meters up, but anyone on the sim could perv cam you and they did. What exactly was "behind closed doors" when anyone and everyone could put their cross-hairs on you? Walls had no purpose other than to divide spaces.

We now have privacy settings and now nobody can see anything unless they trespass. There is no way for anyone to know what you are doing, or not doing, unless they invade your land.

I cammed around Belliserria yesterday, and I looked at what everyone has outside their home. I literally did not find a single PG rated piece of outdoor furniture anywhere I looked. I am sure they exist but finding any yesterday was like looking for Bigfoot.

Ok I agree... then all we really need is for @Governance6 Lindenor @Governance8 Linden or some other Governance number to tell us.... "YES hiding the parcel view is enough to constitute 'Behind Closed Doors'"

until we have a very clear yes or no... up or down... definition to this its all speculation and wishful thinking.  When i asked Abnor this he specifically even said he was NOT governance... in other words NOT an authority on this question.  And certainly if Abnor is not the authority on it then I know a bunch of people coming in here to be the cancel squad on any idea of an Adult Linden HOMES continent are also NOT the authority.

The problem with black/white clearly specific definitions is they can never be clear or specific enough. If the rule is nudity is allowed but being a state of arousal is not, that will only lead to questions of just how much angle to the dangle constitutes an aroused state. Once you go down that rabbit hole it never really ends. Certain vagaries leaving some things open to interpretation to a degree causes people to err on the side of caution rather than looking for a loophole.

Ok then how about a CLEAR definition on unchecking the box that allows avatars to see in...

Question:  If I have an outdoor adult rated pool on Moderate Bellisseria and I uncheck the box on the about land page and now NOBODY can see avies unless they literally invade my space and walk onto my property.  Am I "BEHIND CLOSED DOORS"  or am I not "BEHIND CLOSED DOORS"?

I would like a specific answer to this specific scenario

(From my understanding making avatars invisible from outside the parcel fullfills the general need for "behind closed doors", a Mole/Lindne may correct me on that one, but this is how I precieved it so far.)

See you don't even know what that means either because it has NEVER been clarified and has ALWAYS been left to be vague.  I have had people say hiding view does equal "behind closed doors" i have had others say no you also need physical walls.

So if @abnor Mole or @patch Linden or some other linden wants to give us a once and for all hands down undeniably CLEAR definition of this once and for all it would be helpful.

I would think if just clicking a box on your about land page was enough then YES that would clear up most of the issues for a lot of people (not everyone, but a lot).  But as long as I cannot use my adult animated pool at my home then i for one will always want an Adult rated Linden Home.  It is not an imposition as a customer to state what i want as a product feature.  Nor will i find myself going into threads batting down ideas of what other features people want simply because they don't suite my own preferences.

    This!

It continues to puzzle me why people argue so strenuously against the very idea of a continent that they would never have to visit unless they wanted to do so. I don't want an Adult LH for myself, but I certainly don't begrudge others the chance to wish for an area that is rated Adult.

I mean, how exactly does people asking for Adult LHs affect me? Answer: not at all, so why not let them express their wishes without all the attempts to shut them down?

Thanks for being the voice of reason on this once again Sylvia...

Unfortunately there will always be people who will argue against something that never effects them simply because it does not fit into their own personal preferences.  As long as what you want or do parallels what they want they will be quiet but the moment you express a desire for something that gives them no benefit personally they will spend inordinate amounts of time dragging anyone who would dare express a preference for it.

Reasonable people are going to look at a platform like Second Life and say, hey this is big enough for the things i want as well as the things other folks want as well... and as a key will PAY FOR... and since we are all paying customers the economic benefits in a way help all of us.

SOOO often when I went to hire people, I would ask them why I should hire them, and what I would hear is all the ways that the job would help them in their career goals etc..  But what I wanted to hear is how hiring them would further the COMPANY'S goals, which I had been at pains to communicate to them.

    We are customers... not employees...

There job is to figure out what their customers want and then make it and sell it. And if a significant number of their customers want red balloons then they better start making red balloons, because the customers might get tired of paying them for the yellow balloons they keep making.

You don't think that an adult version of Bellisseria is going to not look tacky? Who is going to determine THAT?  Are you expecting the Moles to determine which naked picture is tacky and which is not. How many dildo's are you allowed to proudly display on this adult land. How many people are allowed to mingle outside naked at the strip club?  Are you going to allow blow up dolls to be allowed to sit in lawn chairs on your front lawn?  Really? Who is going to determine what is tacky and cluttered?

Tacky related to the fact that just as any other Bellisseria theme has a theme so would this.  And yes it might include items you just described but perhaps not.  Go have a look at Zindra... its 100% unregulated mainland with no covenant.  Just like any other Bellisseria theme it would have a covenant and some basic expectations for presentation.  Don't overthink this its not that hard.  And again if you hate Adult land that much you never have to visit it.  That is the beauty of it.

I've read many posts in here, but there are a lot at this point ... but back to the original post: I have to disagree with an adult continent with linden homes ... echoing Abnor's comment that moderate permits the same activities behind closed doors as are permitted in adult, I also like to think Linden Homes are a starting place for many new residents unfamiliar with land. While I proudly also have a Linden Home, I find I use it only occasionally as I've grown to require more prim :~)

On the topic of new residents, I think it's a beautiful introduction to newer people to see the themed continents and neutral surroundings, it's a bit calming and not intimidating. If I were brand new to SL and had logically chosen 'Adult' not understanding the rating system fully as a new person, I would probably be offended immediately by the neighborhood and who knows, maybe I wouldn't pursue it going forward. Thinking back to being new, you want a safe spot to rez objects, test things and understand things --- I can't help but feel adult Linden homes would be cluttered with a lot of naked people running around (giggles).

So, I guess in closing, while most of us are adults, and like that theme from time-to-time, it's nice to take a breather and use our Linden home for tranquility. There are also many opportunities in Zindra to buy or rent lands ... and to be fair, even more opportunities to rent cheaper lands in private estates, too (just saying).

Except no you can't do everything on moderate that you can do on adult...

And Zindra land is either unaffordable (Horizons) or looks tacky and cluttered (the rest of Zindra) or be at the mercy of a third party estate owner

So same exact dismissive attitude Adult content folks ALWAYS HEAR... "You have Zindra so go sit in your antiquated corner carved out for you a decade ago that is not even a complete continent... sit on your hands and be quiet."

Just because someone likes adult content does not mean they have to be satisfied with price gouging or land that looks like a truck carrying a bunch of outhouses spilled over

  14. Well you know if people just supported the idea of ADULT rated Linden homes that would be totally separate from the rest of Bellisseria maybe you wouldn't see things like that crop up as much.  Sounds like such a simple concept... A place for adult content people to do adult content things so they don't do adult content things in moderate content lands.

They haven't been released yet.  It could be a few more weeks since the new theme is a "work in progress." I am sure this thread will go wild when they appear on the land page.  When they are available, just choose the new theme and you'll get a random one.

Of course if you already have the older one when the day comes to get the new one you first need to abandon the old one using the "About Land" page on your land.  Once you abandon an old Linden Home at that time you can pick up a new Bellisseria Home from the homes page on the website.  There are other themes that have been released for some time now but yes i would say if your heart is set on the modern theme of Newbrooke then wait a few weeks i'm sure as Patch Linden always says... They will be ready "soon"

  16. Alright I'm going to weigh in on these and give my honest critique since I know I was brutally honest with the first reveal of these.

I want to begin by thanking Patch and the Moles for very quickly responding to our first set of critiques it show that they do pay attention to what we say and that is to be commended.  Just for responding quickly to customer reaction and giving the reveal a 2nd go I want to give them a thumbs up for that... 👍

On the positive side I see some choices in colors for the them on the exterior.  It may have not been my choice in palette for those colors but hey, at least it is a choice.  So I'm going to give them a gentle thumbs up for that... 👍

While the reveal region itself reflects a very basic flat and boring terraform the team did provide us with some photos of other regions in the theme which do seem to reflect that there will be features like bridges, some hills, and even some bodies of water that are at least big enough that they put bridges over.  So perhaps there will be some larger ponds the size equivalent of some of the earlier ponds in the Victorians?  So one of my strongest critiques was a lack of any interesting topography and it seems they went out of their way with these photos to show that there indeed will be some interesting topography on at least some of the regions.  I do hope those photos reflect the norm of what a region terraform will reflect and that the reveal region topography just happens to be one of a few less than interesting layouts.  So I'm also giving them a thumbs up on this too... 👍

My single most strong critique that I gave to the 1st reveal was that 30 homes on a region is WAY too many homes per region.  Patch Linden did directly respond to this critique and said that "these regions will run within our averages of 22-32 homes per region just like the rest."  I really had to sit with this response for a couple days before breaking it open a bit.  If we are strictly talking averages of Linden Homes in Bellisseria than I'm not sure how the upper end of 20's and certainly not 30's gets included as an "average" number.  I am hard pressed to find a single Bellisseria region higher than 27 homes.  I did some extensive counting and the highest i could find was a houseboat region that had 27 homes tightly packed together.  Even the campers as far as I can tell don't seem to go over 25 or 26.  Stilts which feel crammed are sitting around 23 on average.  Fantasy which are also pretty tight are again around 22 or 23.  Logs and Traditionals feel very generous in space and often dip under that low number of average of 22.  So when I hear numbers of low 30's included within an "average" amount I'm a bit puzzled and leaves me wondering if that is an average will this new theme actually have a region or two that dares to go over 32.  That would be unpleasant.  My optimistic hope is that the reveal region is on the higher side of the actual average and that a more normal average is closer to that 25 number (or less) that truly reflects the practical averages that I can find in Bellisseria.  With that said I did not count homes in the old 2010 themes... perhaps those had higher averages and Patch is including those in his overall average range?  So while I am cautiously optimistic that this region was on the higher side of homes that we will see in Newbrooke and does not reflect the true average, I am going to stay neutral on this until I see the actual rollout of homes.  So NO THUMBS at all for this one.... for now!

Here is an observation that perhaps reflects some of the cosmetic critiques others have pointed out.  I still have to give this new theme a poor rating on the interior space.  I think a couple of residents pointed out a few ways we can MacGyver fix the interiors on our own to feel more modern such as shells, concrete casings around the wood staircases etc... So i have no doubt that just in other themes Bellisserians will get very creative in add-ons to fix some of the issues.  But this just feels like a lost opportunity on the Linden's part to create a modern minimalistic interior that would have matched the spirit of the exterior.  And for this reason I need to give the Newbrooke theme a thumbs down on this area... 👎

Ok one LAST critique to give this a light hearted ending.... PATCH!!! What were you guys thinking putting POOLS flat with the road with the road having to divert around the pool?  I predict a lot of this in our future...

    1298772721_carinpool.thumb.jpg.205b0585c801f450a374a025283f1909.jpg

On second thought though... There will be many funny tales of this people will tell their Grandavies someday so leave the pools... Don't touch them... don't give invisible barrier fixes to them... Let the Volkswagen diving competitions commence... THUMBS UP on pool placement!!!  🤣🤣🤣   👍👍👍

Glad it worked out.    What happened exactly?   You touched the Swaginator for the third prize and received it.   Did the HUD update, if only partially, to show that you'd collected a third prize or was it simply stuck on the third clue and indicators for two collected prizes?   And did you actually receive a third prize?

I'm trying to think what might have caused it, so I can fix it for next time we use the Swaginator -- there's clearly something that causes the HUD to stall in particular circumstances (and comparatively rare ones, it would seem), but since I haven't yet been able to reproduce the error condition, I'm trying to find out as much as I can, so I have an idea what I'm looking for.

When i got to the 3rd prize and touched the swaginator it told me that I had already collected it and never gave me the blue flashing lights like the first two did... it then proceeded to give me the 3rd bear even though it told me i already collected it. then the Hud just stayed on the third clue and the taxi button TP stayed on the 3rd clue.

No, sorry, I'll be upfront as we will have to disappoint you in this case. We don't have the flexibility in the system to allow for the 512sqm homes to be placed on the 1024sqm parcels.

I think perhaps a more general frustration for some is the entire idea of Outdoor space vs Indoor space.  Over time each theme has increasingly taken up a larger footprint on the given lot size.  I get that there needs to be a balance because some people love bigger homes like the Logs other people love smaller homes with bigger outdoor spaces like the Trads.  Just food for thought and I know it may be too late for this theme.  But maybe the next theme to come could have a variety of smaller and larger homes in the selection.... Say 2 large and 2 small.  Actually for as much as I did not like the Chalets maybe the one really good thing about them is they felt like they accomplished that balance.  Some taking a big footprint others a smaller one.
