Can I exchange land?

I have my 512m that comes with my paid account, and I own some land, but would it be possible to apply the 512m to my tier fee instead?  Or use it on land near the plot I own?  I never use the SL home I got with my paid account, it seems like a waste.

You have two land options with your Premium membership.  Both of these apply to Mainland only.

1.  You can have a free Linden Home.

2.  You can have free tier on the first 512 m2 of mainland you own.  If you already own mainland, you can get this discount by simply abandoning your Linden Home.  Stand in the home, open the About Land window, and click Abandon.

You're already paying a $5.00 per month tier on one of the 512 meter plots.  You can abandon the Linden Home and purchase another 512 meter plot of land on the same sim that the current plot of mainland that you own.  You're tier won't increase since you still will only own 1024 meters.  You will, of course have to purchase the 512 plot from another resident (or LL).  Just make sure you abandon the Linden Home before you buy any more mainland........otherwise you'll have a month's worth of tier to pay for owning 1536 meters for part of a month (I believe that tier would be $8.00).

Editing to add:

Having two plots of 512 meters on the same sim gives you the option of using 234 prims (the allotment for 1024 meters) on either plot as you please.  You could have 233 prims on one plot (even if it's 512 meters) and 1 prim on the other.
