Secondlife loading continually and nothing displaying or functioning correctly

I have just started using Second Life and everything seems to load bit-by-bit around the character with textures all over the place. The physics also seem to be malfunctioning so that the character can pass through walls etc. I don't think it should be displaying like this.

I have a new powerful computer that can easily run software like Autdesk Maya and the Adobe creative suite so this shouldn't be a problem.

My specs:

OS: Windows 7 64 bit

Processor: Intel i7-2600

Manufacturer: Dell

Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce 550

Memory: 8GB

Total hard drive space: 2GB (1GB internal and 1GB external hard drive)

I have service pack 1 installed

 

How do I get this to display correctly?

Check your connection to the Internet.  Reboot your router and modem.  Run some speed tests to San Francisco, CA and Dallas, TX to get an idea of your actually download speed.

I got to question something on the specs you listed.

Are you sure about that?  2 gigs won't even be enough for Windows to run.

Also... make sure the bandwidth is set somewhat realistic in the SL preferences.

Also -- look for dirver update from Nvidea -- dont depend on vender or Micorosof
