Suddenly my camera is about a meter in front of me

Question

I don't know what happened Sunday - I was in a perfectly normal looking area, but suddenly my camera position moved to about 1 m straight in front of my av's head, ie if I pan 180 degs, I wind up looking at my face, rather than the usual behind-and-slighty-above position. This isn't mouselook, which I can still get in and out of, and I get all the usual behaviors of pan, tilt, zoom and latch but based on the position in front of me - not so useful to see what's going on. Relogging didn't change anything, nor did multiple ESCs or any other camera control I could find. So I deleted everything, including pref files and downloaded a new copy of the viewer and installed that - same problem, so apparently (to me) this isn't something gone wrong in my files?

My sense is that this is a simple fix to some value that just got out of whack, but I have not been able to find that field or checkbox. Can someone hint me to the fix? Tried the knowledge base - couldn't find anything helpful.

Thanks!

p.s., Per the tips below, I tried moving Camer a Distance and tht has no effect at all on what I see. Camera angle does.

Also tried the debug setting for FocalPosition...changing them has no effect.

Any more ideas?

Thanks

Go to preferences - Input & Camera and look at the Camera View Angle and Camera Follow Distance.

It could be that one of your attachments is messing with your camera, try going down each of your attachments that you are wearing and try detaching them, and then pressing escape.

If you are using firestorm, in the camera movement box there's 3 different ways of viewing your avatar, front, from the side and from the back. I accidentally clicked the front one once and I had no idea how to fix it until I clicked the camera movement thing. I hope you understand what I mean :D
