You can see very recent past IM's with other residents by opening a new IM with them and scrolling up. However, often this is just the last few comments of your last conversation. Under your preferences > network and cache in the viewer, there should be a location listed where your chat logs are stored on your computer. Click "open" and a folder on your computer will open, where all your chat logs are stored. Choose the name of the resident you want to view your chat history with, and open that file. Read away.

I'm not sure if local chat logs are stored on your computer unless you enable specific settings to that effect.

For IM logs open: C: \ Users \ (USER NAME) \ AppData \ Roaming \ SecondLife \ shane25_rage \ resident's_name.txt
