Cam Chattoway
I am not sure where to put this (Jira? here?) - I know I just cancelled my estate because the pitiful tech support was blaming me, then blaming the server, then saying they give up and would notifiy higher up tech support - I've heard nothing yet, so I'm bailing on estate ownership.I'm on an iMac, spring 08 model (nvidia)... anyhow, I had the estate and started looking for mainland. Normally a screen pops up calculating tier changes, how many lindens I'd need, etc. - that broke, on Mac and Windows partitiions. It no longer calculated, but instead provided the message "Cannot buy now, there has been an error while fetching land buying information, and no ownership.I reinstalled, and things got pretty crazy.. on every restart my prefs go to default (again, this is not mac/win dependent)Concierge suggested it was the motorla 6120, tho it has now been tested with a Ubee as well. I got suggestions of everything being wrong on my end - which I got with Charter tech support and found no problems tracing to my estate. (Jira) says this error has to be reproducible to be reported. I do not know what changed. I am on viewer 3.2.1 on Win, 3.1.0 on Mac. That's another oddity - it's showing my last login photo on the login screen from like the day I joined, and it's been thru about 3 bare metal reinstalls. Anyhow, Charter is gonna lend me another Ubee router on Monday; before bailing on me, concierge insisted it was the cable modem and lag and latency on my end causing all of this fuss. I've seen lag and latency cause problems, but none that have lasted 3 weeks and cost me an estate, well, I abandoned the estate (295 a month to sit in tech support is a lot of coin!)Any other ideas, would appreciate! Ann Otoole
I just bought another mainland parcel with no problems at all. Sorry to hear you are having issues.
Cam Chattoway
love to be able to do that! I was ready to expand the estate to a decent sized RP area, and another mainland beachfront getaway.... <sigh> life is what it is sometimes. I suspect the failure to fetch and provide these transactions from the databases to be server side, tho the only JIRA report that I found similar to this is from 2010, and affected about 40 folks... just hoped someone had seen it... hmm.. guess I could plop this photo in - not the total of the problems, but they all started around the same time, so it might be related. Sorry if this is too big, just trying to get the text readable. Also just circled "no owner", but there should be other info on the right side of error msg. I am able to buy land - but with all the other errors with the viewer and fetching info, I am holding off till I can get this triaged somehow. Abigail Longmeadow
The Mainland estate owner used to be Governor Linden, but it changed to "nobody" a few months ago. I am not sure why this happened, or if it means anything at all. All my mainland is like that, and so is all the land around me. The parcel owner still shows as usual. The parcel Atai 136, 240 does not appear to be for sale. The big map (Control M) does not show it in yellow when the Land For Sale box is checked. Usually, land that is for sale shows yellow. Abigail Longmeadow
Here is another thread in the Answers section of this forum, talking about how to do a clean re-install of your viewer: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Technical/quot-Server-experiencing-difficulties-Unable-to-upload-C/qaq-p/1214771
Anita61 Anatine
To me it looks like you are trying to buy land priced at 50.000L and you have 13.385L in your account. Maybe that's the problem?

Cam Chattoway
The parcel may have sold since the photo was taken.. (but if you look closely you'll see the price). However, this is happening on any land for sale, except that which I have the lindens for... but I'm also having significant other viewer related problems - I just am focusing on one that seems server side (after 3 cable modems, provisioning, reinstalls, etc.) - I'm pretty sure it's server side, but still have a few checks to run on my side. Cam Chattoway
Ok, well, when I bought my land previuosly, the gold symbol would appear, it would calculate new tier, etc., based on my holdings, and present them where the errror message is - while I can still buy land, something is preventing that data from getting to my viewer, unless it's just up to the user now to bring up any holdings and recalculate it for every purchase. I'm ok with that, (not!) I don't think this is an expected behavior of the viewer, but I suspect it is server side

Cam Chattoway
yes, and I went to Valkyrie (region) with a lot of tiny abandoned parcels and found I could purchase them, but still got no information - blank info where the calculated info should be. Point being, would you purchase land for 50kL if your browser was displaying this behavior?

Cam Chattoway
Thanks, I've been using OSX (snow) and XP - will be good to have this around for Win7 tho. Not sure if it's the same on XP, I know it's gone from OSX, tho I just found Phoenix and it's path (forgot it previously, tho it did no changes) - I'm into about 30 hours of diagnostics on my side, am now about to wipe the disks completely and start over. This all began on both systems on the same day, so most of my focus has been on network, but now that's all new... about only thing left is to wipe the drives. Cam Chattoway
yes, and no - prior behavior of the viewer was different, but after several dozen trials and with some help from Netgear, I found a resolution and do not consider this a security risk - which is what my concern was.
