Webkit has a range of problems and problems appear in different ways, host not found is one. On Windows Webkit problems are often fixed by installing Safari Browser and QuickTime. Also, on Windows you may have to deal with some settings. See: Media Plugin Webkit Fail

Recently some anti-virus programs have seen SLPlugin.dll as a threat. Check that the file is still in your viewer install. If not tell your AV to exempt it. Then reinstall the viewers. See the clean install link below. Or you can search for SLPlugin.dll and move copies to the problem viewers, which can be a pain.

But, host not found can also be an issue from using a grid manager tooThere are 5 or 6 URL's that the viewer must know to connect with SL, OSGrid, In-Worldz, etc. Grid managers allow one to edit those URL's. If the settings get messed up, one cannot login, host not found.

Since you are asking a tech question and not giving us any information about your system, we cannot supply specific answers. It is ideal to open Help->About in the viewer and copy paste that info into your post.

For Windows users running multiple viewers this article should help: Second Life Clean Install. There are some basics in it for those running multiple viewers. Plus it addresses the 'install order' problems.
