Particles are a prim property.  They can only be turned on by a script, and they can only be turned off by one.  Removing the script will not stop the particles.  You have to add this script after you remove the particle script ...

 

default{     llParticleSystem([]);  // Kills particles     llRemoveInventory(llGetScriptName());  // Kills this script    }}
