Where can I find popularity statistics of the different viewers?

Hi.  I'm considering implementing some functionality in Flash, but I need to know what percent of the SL population will be even able to *see* it in-world.  Any clues?

(FYI: Flash is only implemented on viewers based on the "viewer 2 codebase".)

Even people with v2 will often have media turned off. I wouldn't count on many people being able to see it.

LL could probably compile those statistics, but if they have, they aren't sharing. I doubt anyone inworld can get an accurate read.

my own limited non-empirical gathering (via viewer tags) showed ~50% LL, ~40% Phoenix, ~10%everything else, averaged  across regions that were old time users and newbie areas....

I suspect that LL made some gains with mesh introduction, and ~50-75% of Phoenix users moved to Firestorm in that time (FS was still too new when I was drawing numbers for it originally)

 

my estimate for you is ~60% with shared media on a prim ability, +/-25% depending on target population (more for newbies, less for oldbies). all percentages are lowered for actual use of the feature (having it turned on) due to security concerns (some of which are just hype, but a few may not be)
