I almost certainly have a viewer freeze when I log in and the graphic quality is set to my default(High)
I succeed when I set the slider down to medium
After log in I can set graphic quality as high I want without having problems.

System data:

  • Second Life 2.8.1 (237758) Aug  4 2011 14:15:58 (Second Life Release)

    CPU:         Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz (3392.38 MHz)
    Memory: 8174 MB
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 (Build 7601)
    Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
    Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 460/PCI/SSE2

If anybody can tell me about a cure I would be delighted
I fear the problem is in another unfinished viewer release in a row of unfinished viewer releases

Not sure this is related but what I found is that some of these new releases reset graphics preferences.  In particular Graphics - Hardware - Enable VBO keeps getting turned back on along with Anisotropic Filtering.  Once I set them back to off, the stability improves dramatically.

Start at Medium or Low.  Go into the custom graphics settings.  Enable and adjust features one by one, and if you can't tell the difference between having it turned up/enabled, then leave it disabled.  If it crashes, you know what your system can't handle; don't set that option, move on to the next.

The error message in this thread is the same I am having

It feels good not to be alone:smileysad:

@Baloo: To day I have not been able to provoke the error. If and when it comes back I will provide the logs.
