Basically, make sure you choose advanced mode instead of basic when you log in, open your inventory tab, find your library folder, open the clothing folder and there are some free avatars in there.

You can also change clothes, or skin, shape, eyes, hair, eyebrows, everything that is a part of you you can change. You can also add stuff also, like wings
