Bandwith problems, stuck in a sim

Start by logging into a different sim.  If you don't see that option on login, go to Me - Preferences - General and check the box that says Show on login next to Start location.    Try a sim like Pooley, Smith or Aqua and see if your avatar will load at one of those locations.

You can log into SL and a different sim.  Try Pooley or Smith and, if your inventory has not completely loaded, wait there quietly while it finishes loading.  Do not open browsers or IM others.  Walk away from your computer if you must.

If you are still a cloud after your inventory has loaded, try these things:

Rebake (CTL-Alt-R)

Do a character test (found under Advanced > Character > Character tests)  check either Male or Female)

Drag and drop one of your My Outfits folders onto your avatar.  This, finally, should rez you.  Once you have rezzed, you can rebuild your avatar.  Good luck!
