why can't a login in after i have downloaded second life?

i have downloaded the game and i type my password and username but it always says it an error with the username or password.

That error message is really annoying because it doesn`t really say what the problem is unless you really have typed the wrong username or password, which usually people haven`t.

Try a different viewer and see if you get the same error https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory

Some of the viewers will have 2 boxes for first and last names, for those ones you need to use the last name Resident.
