Getting logged out of Second Life

I have a general question about getting logged out of Second Life.

While I’m aware of many, many changes happening with servers (and everything else), my question would be - Why the unhappy-face am I constantly getting logged out when these server rolls are not taking place? For the past two-three weeks, whenever I am at home dressing/editing, I randomly get logged out. When I login, everything I did is gone or was reverted back to its ‘factory setting’. I’m getting really irritated by this. Not to mention I lost a couple of items into the endless nothingness of never returness, seeing as I was at home…in my home. Good thing I still have the empty folder, eh? Anyway, perhaps someone smarter than I can explain why this is happening and what I need to do to prevent this. My computer is fine as well as my internet access. This is happening to my friend as well. Soooo...brief explanation? Or should I submit a support ticket? If so, what should I be including in it?

I check the grid status often, and none of the server rolls at that time affect anything. It’s when nothing is happening that this happens.

(I use the latest Phoenix Viewer btw.)

I've actually seen this as a semi regular occurrence with v2.6.3, although I did not see the same thing with v2.6.2, so you might try going back to that version instead...

I have no idea what's causing it, I was assuming it was a crash problem with something on my home region, but the symptoms and effects are exactly as you described.

ETA:
must remember to read all the way through, if you are seeing this on phoenix, then i'm not sure... you'll want to contact their developers or the inworld Phoenix Support group for technical problems with that viewer.

Hi!

I supposed it had to do with either the region or the viewer. But ruled the viewer out because my friend uses a completely different version of it (not that it can’t be both). When it comes to the region, our home, we did get new neighbours and I’m wondering if anything on their land could be causing this. If this could be the case, would it be possible to check their land to see what is causing this problem? We’ve experienced slight lag as well which was never the case before. Also, would asking our landlord to do a region restart help any? Yeah, quite a lot of questions. But during my little time on Second Life, this issue is just making me mental.

I’ve tried another version of the viewer I have, and the problem remained. So really, I’m a little baffled.

Is your internet connection behaving similar to your SL connection? If you are streaming other content (for example videos or music) & only getting intermittent service you likely just need a new modem. I had this problem a while ago and called my ISP about it. They sent me a new modem & everything has been good since then :matte-motes-tongue:
