I can't talk in SL

I can't talk in SL and I can't figure out why, I use to up until about a month and a half ago. How do I get it back?

If you go to a sim called Voice Echo Canyon it is easier to test your setup because you can hear yourself speak there.

Make sure you check all the things on http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Voice-chat-FAQ/ta-p/700171 in case you missed something simple & check your cables are connected properly.

I had voice up until about a month and a half ago the it quit working. I have verified all my setting I even have the dot. When you open the window to show who has voice it shows a grayed dot next to my name. I reset again a couple of days ago and got voice back briefly. Any ideas?

Did you change anything around that time...Like switch to a different viewer?

 

Check that the voice plugin isn`t being blocked by any anti-virus or firewall & test to see if it works on other viewers, in case it a problem just related to the viewer you are using.

I tried Emergence, Imprudence, Phoenix, and Firestorm none work. How do I check to see if it is being blocked by anti-virus or firewall?

Depends on which ones you have the exact wording etc but if you open them you will find things such as Events lists that tell you what actions they took against certain things and allow list and block list which have things you have told them to ignore or block.

In your Programs menu should be your Firewall, click on that and view Internet access control.

Sometimes Voice has be toggled on and then off and then back on again Inworld to get it to activate.

On occassion my PC does not recognize that the mircophone has been plugged in, had to toggle that also.

I would guess the top reasons are a lagging Region, firewall blocking voice, pc/mic/speaker settings, software updates needed

I have McAfee Internet Security. It doesn't have an event log that I can find.

I`ve never used McAfee so I don`t know specifically where to look on that one, you can google for instructions or start a new question here asking how to check if SL Voice is blocked on McAfee.
