Second Life Viewer will not install

I have tried to install the second life viewer v2.6.3 but when it installs, it fails to extract libeay32.dll and just stops.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

I'm running Windows Vista and i downloaded through Firefox, saving the file and then opening it.

If you are using IE to download, do not Run the installation from the web.  Choose to Save the install file to your computer first and then run it.

no, i downloaded using firefox, saved file first (firefox only allows you to save file first) then opened it. it just stops there and then says completed, without Second Life.exe

Perhaps you got a corrupted copy. Uninstall what's there and try another download. You could also try an earlier version to see if that works for you. Those can be found at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Supported_Viewers

i got 1.23 but it wouldn't extract SecondLife.exe

I found a solution:

I was trying to extract to my removable disk, so i tried (for ease of access) to extract to the Desktop and it worked perfectly.
