Edit objects stuck moving on the diagonal

Every time I edit objects the arrow keys are on the diagonal and it's making it a nightmare to place objects where I want them.  It only happens for one of my avatars so clearly I've accidentally changed a setting.  Can anyone tell me how I can change this back so objects are moving in a straight line again?  I've googled, look through all the settings and I still can't fix it.  In fact all I did find about this issues was that you can't move objects diagonally (when clearly you can lol).  Even using snap to grid the grid is at an angle.  Please help whilst I still have some hair left

Check Build->Options and see if "Use selection for grid" is checked. If so, uncheck it. That's a really useful setting at times, allowing you to move things on axes that are aligned to the object, not the world. Clearly that's not what you want at the moment.

Thank you so much!!! It wasn't selected, but switching it on then off again fixed it.  What a relief! I've been trying to hang pictures on walls and they've been all over the place.  Thank you Madelaine ?
