Newbie needs some help

So my trouble is that i would like to look decent but i really do not know how to make that happen..

I'm interested in mesh avatar or anything that looks better than starter avatars..

Looking for someone kind, who would like to help me a bit

If you are interested in mesh check out http://meshbodyaddicts.com/ The bodies available have been reviewed there. Demo, demo, demo. Go around to the various places and grab a demo and try them on to find the one that you like the shape of the various parts for. The top 4, IMHO, are Belleza, Maitreya, Slink and Tonic.

1) Learn how to make copies of your skin, shape and other avatar components, and how to find them in your inventory. Basically, learn how to 'back up' your avatar.

2) Find free stuff. This means group gifts, promotions and hunt items rather than the largely crap and outdated freebies that some of the newbie-traps give out.

3) Experiment. Play with the shape editor. Try new skins, clothes and hair. Try to break stuff, knowing you have a saved version to go back to. You learn a lot by trying to break stuff.

4) If and when you are ready to buy something, STOP! Demo. Demo. Demo. Then demo some more. Make sure that the combinations of clothes and mesh body (if you choose one) will work together. Check that any mesh body you choose is sufficiently well-supported that clothes which you like are available.

please help my avatars is floating and can not get it to lower onto the land also the eyes ar not in the head and at out befor it and my foot ware is floating under me but not on the feet
