Why don't I have a legend on my map?

I'm not exactly sure which forum to post this question in so that should tell you how new I am! Anyway, when I open my map, I don't have a legend on the side of it. I think there was at one time (I haven't been on for a few months) Oh, I use Firestorm viewer if that helps anybody figure out what I've done! Thank you for any help or suggestions!

Actually, there IS a way to hide or show the Map legend.  Look at the right side of the map.  There is a big chevron, >>.  Click that to open the legend.

There is a legend on the world map. I can't see a way to turn it off or hide it. My guess is that you are looking at the mini map. Ctrl + M toggles the world map on and off.
