why doesn't my avatar load?

When i log on my avatar does not load. All I get is a white oval with  the phrase "avatar loading" above it., but it never loads. I can see  everthing else, including other avatars, normally. Prior to this, everything worked just fine. I have tried  rebooting my pc and relogging into SL several times with no luck. I am new here, so I feel like I'm missing something simple. I searched the knowledge base for an answer (but found nothing on it) and submitted a ticket yesterday, but I'm impatient I suppose lol. Can anybody give me ideas what to look for?

It happens sometimes that SL does not finish loading the avatar.

Please open the Advanced Menu with Ctrl+Alt+D.

There, go the Character menu > Character Tests > Test female or male.

Your Avi is now set to standard settings and you can see her/him again and do tricks with it (*smiles).

There isn't another effective way unfortunate.

Go to the develop menu (cntrl, alt, Q)  on the drop down menu of that select avatar, then character tests, then test male or female.  This will set your avatar to a default one.  you will have to wear your original skin/shape/hair etc again after the default avatar rezzes.  This should do the trick.
