Nvidia GeForce GTX 850M

Hi! My partner is interested in buying a MSI GE70 Apache laptop based on the Nvidia GeForce GTX 850M GPU. Is anybody using this card? Does it run smoothly with SL? Any suggestion? Thanks!

Hi Regolus,

Many people run NVIDIA GTX GPUs with very good results. I'm running a 680MX, though on a Mac.

The 8xx family is too new to be in the viewer's "gputable.txt" configuration file, so your friend may have to do some minor file editing to make a viewer run, but I imagine everything else will be fine.

It's generally been that simple in the past. And the official releases will come along with updates as well. They're just a few months behind.

Judging the 850M from this Benchmark table, it should have a decent performance in Second Life. Don't expect too much from it though, it won't do wonders in SL, even if it says "Gaming Laptop".
