Is it possible to export a mesh FROM second life into blender?

not that i know of. the only way to get a sl mesh object "out of sl" is that a seller would give you also a link to download the maps,dae files and so on so u could work with them in a 3d program. so in fact it is not exporting, but working with the files that were used to import them into sl

Yes it is - if you are the one who imported it in the first place.

(Yes it sounds a bit silly but for certain builds its easier for me to actually build in world

with some simplified mesh 'prims' that I made in Blender - simple open boxes with 4 materials

already in as place holders for example - and then use the viewers export DAE option to take

the linkset  back to Blender for clean up. Keep in mind my Blender skills can be measured in

sub nano units)
