I have an odd account suspended situation...

Well on Friday I was logged out by an admin, and by the time I found out I was banned it was already too late to call support. Ok, waited a few days for Monday to come around so I can finally see whats up (I recieved no e-mail regarding the ban). Customer support tells me that my account has been disabled because it is somehow linked to someone else that got banned recently and that I just need to send in a picture of my ID for varification. Not a huge deal, all my info is accurate and I can send the photo and what not, it is just going to take 3 or 4 days, or a week, or two, sometime this year maybe, who knows... Anyway, since I have nothing better to do, I contacted the person who I was told my account was linked to. As I was talking to them, they got their account unbanned, right on the spot. I figure, well if I am banned because they were, I must be unbanned too right? I checked, nope still banned. So I call support back and explain the situation. They tell me that my account is still suspended for security reasons and that I HAVE to wait for them to respond to my ticket. This is what is bothering me, if I was banned because they thought my accounts were somehow linked to someone that had done something bad, I can understand wanting to know if I am the real owner or whatever. This is no longer the case however, the person is no longer banned. So wouldn't the whole case of mistaken identity be completely moot? Furthermore, how were they able to fix their problem instantly when they want me to wait for weeks? My friend suggested that you have to yell at people to get things done, but I don't want to believe that. I have been a premium member for one and a half years so far, never caused any trouble, never missed any payments. Why am I being punished for something that even the wrong-doer is no longer being punished for?

This 'answer' isn't going to be received well, but it's 'who even knows why'.  Secondlife is wacked.  I had a premium membership, my fault totally but i forgot about the due date, i've got every reminder but missed this one, I try logging in one day and my account is frozen.  Billing tells me to contact my cardholder and as luck would have it Mastercard is having issues (first time ever and imminently to be resolved); the Paypal transaction I'm awaiting is  (just) 2days away, Billing won't budge so okay I got 20000L on my account - LL and Billing even knows its there - knowing that and that I could pay them THEIR money in mere seconds do you think they'll let me get to it so I can.  Long story short I jumped though hoops, paid it in full that day to Billing's satisfaction, was allowed to log... only to be frozen AGAIN the next morning cause i owed $0.01.

Who even knows why LL does what it does.  Colour me twisted though I don't overly mind cause it's a double-edged sword... I like the lawlessness, the wild wild west you never know whats going to happen next of being on the grid.  No i don't like grievers or idiots or the LL snafu's... but i'm glad it's not a tight ship either.  It does always leave you wondering what the hell's going on doesn't it.

All I can suggest is keep the faith and you'll see this though, and a huge hi5 for the not yelling at people to get things done - that's noble.  Actually an insertion of a dig so cleverly disguised they other person doesn't even notice can be pretty funny.

I know I agreed that they could suspend my account for whatever reason and without any compensation for loss etc. when I agreed to the terms of service, but that doesn't mean I expected them to suspend my account for basically no reason at all. I could understand if they wanted me to prove my identity after getting multiple age varification requests or something to that effect, but thats not what happened. My account is suspended because they want to know if I am someone who isn't even banned anymore. The only thing that is going to prove is that I shouldn't have been banned in the first place, and that making me wait is just more punishment that I don't deserve. They are not going to compensate me at all for this unjust treatment. Its not just a matter of, "Who knows why," its more like, "Who do they have working here?" Common sense dictates there is no reason at all that I am still banned, yet they insist on protocal in my case, yet an actual griefer (or whatever the person did to get banned that I am "linked" to) can call in and return to SL the same day. Maybe I just talked to the wrong person on the support staff? Or, perhaps I really should have yelled at them. Seems to work for griefers.

That is entirely likely.  Granted it was for account related stuff vs support related stuff but I've run up against a brick wall, then in turn talked to someone else and the difference was like night and day.  Human nature I suppose.  It's like getting caught being slightly over the speed limit, a rookie might write you up vs a veteran issuing a warning... whats the worse that would happen if you tried re-stating your case or politely asking if you could talk to a supervisor, someone in higher authority, other than just getting the same answer.  I'd retry with the hope calmer heads would prevail.

I had already called them 3 times that day, and when I kept getting the same answers from different people, I kind of gave up on it. Now that I think about it, I should give them another call. Shame its already past office hours. I suppose when I check tomorrow, if I am still banned, I will go ahead and make another call and see if I can find someone that could assist me a little rather then just tell me they can't do anything.

The first person I talked to couldn't do anything either... not at all their fault as undoubtedly there is only so much thats in their control... in my case i was pretty sure something could be done and a polite 'well there must be someone i could talk to' met with success.  I too like to think reason beats harsh attitude and I hope you prove that right - best of luck.

Unfortunately, either there is nothing they can do, or no one is willing to do anything at the support center. Despite my persistance, they only thing they would tell me is that they handed it over to inworld security and that I just have to wait for them to respond. Regardless of this rediculous situation, regardless of my premium member status, regardless of how pointless my identity now is, I just have to wait for them to get around to someday reviewing my guest account ticket.  I fail to see any optimism in this situation. I should have never been banned in the first place, and if they thought my accounts belonged to the other person, I should have been unbanned 2 days ago. Instead I am stuck in some kind of pointless limbo. I don't mean to come across as impatient, but I see this to be similar of being taken into custody as a suspect of murder only to find out it was a suicide, yet you are still in prison waiting to be identified.

i only did as others did as i replied to hers i figured i might as well do mine because emails and ar's are not working if they dont want us to ask questions then why are these here, its not always a sunny day in SL some of us do get treated poorly and deserve a answer or support from others is all im saying and mine is a question do they ever answer us?
