How do you get rid of teh 'rotate orb' when linking small objects?

Hey Everyone,

I'm trying to link small objects, but when I hit the control key (control-L to link the objects) the 'rotate orb' comes up and covers my objects so I can't select them. It's nice that it comes up if I only hit control, but when I'm in link mode, it should go away (I'd call this a bug, myself)

How do you turn this thing off so I can link my objects?

Try using shift instead of Ctrl when selecting multiple objects...that give you only 3 arrows to fiddle around

and Tools Menu works well enough to get it linked without needing to hold Ctrl

edit one item, hold shift, click the second item, finally you let go of shift and hit "Link"/Ctrl-L

this is assuming that you been edit one item, hold Ctrl-L then try hitting the second item.

I was hitting and holding cntrl-shift the whole time

If you "Disable Camera Constraints" (see this tutorial) you can make the prim occupy your screen entirely, and no problem with rotate orb.

Erm, you press ctrl-l to link the prims AFTER you've selected them.  No need or point to holding ctrl while you're selecting.  Unless you want to hit ctrl-3 to enter edit and then 'draw' a selection-box around all your prims.

Yeah I figured that out. It does work if you hold control L though, so I had been doing it that way for a year! I'm not much of a manual reader, I guess
