Are you contributing tier to a group that owns land? Log into your Dashboard and check out your land ownership etc.

Also, tier is billed for the previous 30 days, so you may have one more payment after you get rid of all your land.

A very easy way to find you land or contributions is in the viewer menu at top, World-My land holdings. The top of the window tells you where (if you are the owner) and the bottom part what group you deeded your land to, if so.

If you deeded land to a group and it's not the only land, it would be fair to inform the others that you plan to remove your contribution:)

Pop on over to this link and take a look at your Group [land] Contribution(s) - If you have antthing other than a "0" after a group then you are co-paying tiers on that groups land allocations. You want to see "Total Donated Square Meters: 0" as your total.

Then check here for any residual mainland you may still own:

Visit any parcel shown and stand in the center and do World / About Land / Abandon Parcel

Then set your Land Use Fees backk to a total USD value of zero.

After this you can change your account membership level to the Basic level.
