0 Lindal Kidd
CTRL+P to open your Preferences window. Click the Graphics tab, select Advanced. Turn off Advanced Lighting Model, if it's on. Disable Shadows, if it's on. Reduce your Draw Distance to, say, 64m. You can also try disabling Reflections, or at least change it from "everything" to a lower setting, say, "all static objects." Turn down maximum particles to around 2048. Maximum avatar imposters to 12. Next, in the Network and Cache tab of Preferences, set your cache size to the maximum you can, consistent with your available hard drive space. Set your Bandwidth to not more than 1500, and possibly less depending on the quality of your internet connection. If anyone else is using your network for high volume data purposes, like online gaming or streaming video, make them stop. "Hey, playing Second Life here!" Be sure your antivirus program knows Second Life is a trusted application. You don't want it to be scanning every texture file the viewer downloads.
