Lachance Foxclaw
I have the weirdest bug... I set my preferences, and when I log out and log in next time, my preferences have reset! They will not save. I've tried running as administrator. Uninstalling and reinstalling.. nothing seems to work. -- Help!
Nalates Urriah
When you ask a tech question get the info from the viewer in HELP->ABOUT... and paste it into you post. It has all the version numbers we need to see to make reasoned guesses at what's wrong. Otherwise, we are tossing coins. In the upper right of your post is an OPTIONS drop down that will let you edit a post. The most likely cause of the problem is the viewer crashing on exit. You can look in the viewer's log to see if that is happening. You can try logging in, changing the settings, and logging out. There is a crash few notice that comes from running out of memory during a shut down. If you open the viewer, make changes, and exit there should be little time for memory leaks to eat up memory. You can verify the viewer is working by renaming or deleting the settings file, APPS_DATA/Roaming/user_settings/[avatar] Starting the viewer will create a default version of the file. Of course all settings are returned to their default values. But, if the viewer can create the file, it has the needed permissions. So, that problem is eliminated. If none of this is working, get the Google Breakpad RC Viewer in alternate SL Viewers and try it. It has very different bug trapping and you may find the error in the log while using it. Oh... if you're on XP, stay way from the that viewer. Good luck.
