Question

I can not play music on any sim.  I am using Firestorm.  I have checked preferences and they all seem to be normal. This has been a problem for over a week.  I hear other sounds but not music.  My musical note is either a brighter gray or the same gray than the media symbol depending what sim I am on.

I found a pop up box by hovering my cursor between  the musical note and media symbol referring to "nearby media"   A few day ago it had a name and website that made no sense since it referred to a wardrobe i am using.  That has not disappeared.  When I am on home sim the "start all" regular color but "stop all" is grayed out. However when i hit "start all" nothing changes.

I have searched for answers in various places and not help.  I have tried to give all the information I have not knowing what may be relevant.  Can anyone help?

thank you in advance

That popup box you're seeing refers to parcel media.  If you open World >>> About Land >>> Media, you'll see that the parcel owner can define a video stream that will play for any user who clicks on the texture that has been dropped into the Replace texture window.  It's a nice feature, an alternative to using Media On A Prim (actually a precursor to MOAP by a couple of years).  Anyway, that has nothing to do with your music problem.  :smileytongue:

Streaming music can fail for many reasons.  Rather than try to list them all for you, let me just point you to a good summary and let you explore >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_media

Some of the comments in that article refer to streaming video, which can suffer from the same problems.  Note that many of the problems can be in your own computer.  It's embarrassing when you discover that you're not getting any music because you hit the mute button on your keyboard ( .... OK, so I did that last week ....  :smileyembarrassed:  ).
