Ok I hate what avatars they give you to chose from default. And I don't like choosing from the givens in the marketplace.
I'm a male an interested in customizing and designing my own stuff, so what programs I need to design my own avatars skin color, eyes, facial and body features to my own clothes, I messed with RLD and they have a separate avatar creation program, so does SL have anything like that? Or what programs I need to design my own stuff. Sorry if it's been asked before, just I'm getting frustrated with all the hoopla I'm going though. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

That should keep you busy for a few months!  Good luck with your endeavours, when you're ready you can offers yours for sale on Marketplace too.

It's on of the aspects about SL that is quite engaging, I fell into creation somewhat by accident and it's what keeps me here.

(Just to add that the avatars that you get to choose from now are REALLY GOOD compared to when I started and earlier)

Avatar shape is easy, select any of the basic avatars and you can edit the shape as you wish.  In the SL viewer right click on your avatar and select "edit my shape" and you will find lots of adjustable sliders.

I've read about designing and editing skins--I can see why skins tend to be expensive.  When buying skins use the demos--skins tend to be designed to a particular shape and may not look good on your preferred shape.

Thanks for the concern but yes I'm willing to even design my own skins and meshes as well, besides the basic avatar design. I'm willing to mess with stuff, I'm a web designer at heart, so I like to be able to be hands on with what I'm creating, I just want to know all the programs that are involved in the design process so I don't have to deal with red tape crap. :)

Thanks for the info! :) I like to get my hands dirty when I design, I never been able to draw freehand much but I always had a nack on designs and how things should look even if it's only appealing to me, others might like it, I know there isn't a whole lot that is different for Males alone when it come to 3d realistic digital avatars, like I said I messed around a little in RLD but didn't like the initial pay aspect, here if I could get some designs going I'll want to offer quality for a lot cheaper than others are asking.
