If you are going to use the SAM software then yes, SAM Broadcaster Pro is the way to go. Both lite versions lock you into the Vibe relay service which uses the ACC Encoder/Stream standard which the FMOD software included with SecondLife does not support.

SAM Broadcaster Pro will support both ShoutCast and IceCast Relay services.

The Easy 3- payment plan helps lessen the sting but the annual maintenance fee of $99 USD may be a show stopper for you. You need the Maintenance Agreement after the 1st year of purchase to continue receiving updates and patches.

I use SAM Broadcaster Pro with the [free] MySQL Community Database option since my music collection exceeds 100,000 fully annotated songs of different genres. While I've tested Mixxxx and it seems like a really nice product, I've not had the time to test its ability to manage this large a music library and to search for my requests and songs to pull for any particular set, using keywords in addition to known song titles.

for SAM - http://spacial.com/sam-broadcaster & http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/

for Mixxx - http://www.mixxx.org/download/

Thanks Darren, After I verify it will not disturb my existing music meta-data tags I'll let Mixxx read the whole library and test it for keyword search speed while in the middle of a set - :) It took a long while to undo the mess iTunes and Windows Media Player made of my music meta-data with inaccurate song titles, album images, song orders and other issues found from the internet sources those relied on. You'd think that the record label CD & Digital collection databases would be accurate. Sigh. SAM has been instrumental in annotating my collection properly.
