What is this white dome that made my game crash?

So I transported to Freebie Galaxy to check it out for the first time. I was standing there doing a quick organization of my Landmarks when my avatar (and another standing next to me) were suddenly covered in this bright white thing, thus making my game lag horribly and then crashing. I loaded up again and went to Freebie Galaxy to see if it still happened and when I got there, across the first level I saw a huge white dome which I realized was what covered my character and made my game crash. It covered a large portion of the floor and sometimes moved to the left and right a little. I saw people walking into it and watched it covered more of the floor when it moved. It started coming close to me again so I transported out of there not wanting to crash again. Does anyone know what that was?

Good question.  It sounds like a good place to avoid until whoever is in charge can clear it.  There are a couple of griefer devices that will make your viewer crash by overloading your graphics card.  In the extreme, they can actually damage you card, so they are worth avoiding if you can.
