Question

I just downloaded SL after many months of being gone. Now when I get back on, there is this multicolor effect that is going on with my scroll bar, and around main buttons. When I am around others that are chatting it flashes every time there is a new message, and it is giving me a head ache. Is there something wrong with my viewer, or is this a new effect put on, and if so, is there a way to get rid of it? I am not able to take a screenshot that shows the problem since the screenshot does not include the toolbar when taken.

Welcome to Second Life Answers

Someone else might understand exactly to what you're referring straightaway, but I am a little bit puzzled. Therefore, while we wait for other replies to come forth, please could you show us, via a screenshot?  Upload by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post, select "edit", and then look across the menu bar at the top of your post for the icon that looks like a little tree.

Edited since your original post was edited:

It sounds like all the new bells and whistles that Linden Lab added to the viewer recently, to give it the CHUI (Communications Hub User Interface).

You might get along a lot better with one of the approved third party viewers.  Firestorm can be customised and is believed to be the most popular viewer currently. Singularity is very popular also.  I can only suggest you try them and see what you think is best for you.

Just adding the information video that was produced by Second Life to explain the new viewer a little more.

The Phoenix/Firestorm people, brought out several videos to explain more how to use their viewer, including how to customise the interface. You might find this information useful too.
