There's a lot of people in the Netherlands giving tracert figures. The jump in time between the Dutch and US machine is about what I'd expect for a transatlantic cable, about 70ms for the actual cable, plus a bit for the telecoms system between cable and hub (which might be using ATM rather than anything visible at the internet levels)

It's a long time since I was in a bar with anyone who worked at this stuff (and the last time we were talking about steam locomotives).

Arabella

The problem was hitting far more than just Nederlandse users, it was affecting all users East of the USA, and the "lag" was way more than usual, believe me.

It is curious that the issue seemed to just vanish after The Lab rolled back the LeTigre and Bluesteel severs, but that must have been pure coincidence.  Strange how much "pure coincidence" occurs in SL!

These last days, the network has been running pretty bad. Now I know the cause, it is a DDoS attack that has affected the global network. Responsible was arrested yesterday in Barcelona. This is a spammer who launched an attack on an anti-spam company. May he rot in jail, I hate that kind of people.
