Search Box Grey

I've been trying for the past like 6 months to figure out why the search box has come up grey with no success. Hopefully someone on here can help. Every time I try and use the in game search box it comes up grey and doesn't respond. I dont' have this issue on any other computer I use especially on my desktop which is very similar to my gaming laptop. The only difference is that is running adobe flash 10 not crappy 11. I don't know if that makes a difference or what but that gaming laptop has no issue running second life and I want to be able to also play on my gaming laptop.
