New computer - Graphics issues

Even if your computer is new, the graphics card may have been manufactured some time ago. Check for available updated drivers on the manufacturer's web site. 

On Windows:

• ATI/AMD drivers
• NVIDIA drivers
• Intel drivers

Apple integrates hardware and software more closely than Windows. Problems are less likely, but there are fewer revisions and workarounds (provided throughSoftware Update).

If it's a new computer, presumably it has Windows 8 but what graphics are you using? If an Intel chipset, have a read of these JIRAs on the Phoenix/Firestorm website, which could be relevant.
