Hello,

please download the latest viewer from http://secondlife.com/support/downloads and try again with a clean install (see http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-Second-Life/ta-p/1375231 for instructions).

If that doesn't help please come back here, click 'edit' at the top, and tell us which viewer you were using, which operating system and graphics adapter. I'm sure we can help you with the issue.

As a last option you can go to http://support.secondlife.com and contact support.

To add to Martin's answer...

We don't call them "rooms" in Second Life.  They are "regions" or "sims" (short for "simulator").  It's not just a naming convention though.  There are important differences between an IMVU "room" and a Second Life region.  For example, you can walk across a region border to the adjoining region, just as if they were real land.

Regions resemble real land in other ways too...when you buy a house on the Marketplace, you have not bought a "room".  You have bought a structure, an object.  You will need to also buy or rent land in a region to put the house on.
