The trans permission is just a proof of SL's fail of a permissions system. In an effective permissions system there would be no such thing as a "trans" permission, because everything would be trans. It will ask you to select one copy of the item to send to another and wipe out all other copies in your inventory. This way you can feel free to make a million copies for backup editing, and also give item to another.

However since our permissions system fails, I prefer copy/mod/no trans, because any competent store has a gift system. Giving a used item to a friend is nowhere near as important as making backup copies in case you or SL goofs, and/or the store owner is too much of an **bleep** to redeliver (like the ones who never respond to IMs/notecards, won't list any names here).
