Removing UI etc

I've just recently purchased Fraps.. I've made a couple of 'test' recordings and it looks very good.. much better than Camtasia. But, with Camtasia, I can set my preferred output size by just dragging a box, therefore, eliminating the user interface on the screen. Is there a way to capture video with Fraps at a different screen size (and particular areas on the screen) or am I stuck capturing the entire screen including the UI? I've been looking for tutorials and unable to pin down this specific question.

To remove the UI, press Ctrl-Alt-F1 To hide everything on your HUD press Ctrl-Shift-H To turn everything back on just press those keys again.

You can hide the UI and huds. Hide UI with Ctrl Alt F1. Hide huds with Alt Shift H.

Is there a way to pick the area of the screen? Camtasia has a box that can be dragged to record at a desired resolution..

I'll get it figured out one way or another.

Are you wanting to just be able to record a certain area of the screen, or is your goal being able to control your videos resolution?

Because you can always crop your video in editing.

Thanks Charolotte and all. I did get it figured out. I just cropped it in my video editor. I should have monkeyed around with  the editor before I asked my question!
