dalocogamer
Howdy, I am trying to get started into making a small hud where you can throw object back and forth with a friend. Game of catch like we all played when we were young ones. Simple enough I made ball in hand, ball to throw, and hud. I could use suggestions on how to start a script for this. I've looked at gun scripts and they just have the bullets going stright forever and ever. I would want the ball to start to lose momentum. I'm open to suggestions. Be resonabile and not put down. Dora Gustafson
If your ball is physical it will be forced towards the ground by gravity. To make it loose speed because of air resistance you can apply a force in the opposite direction of it's velocity and proportional to it's speed. Innula Zenovka
It's quite a complicated undertaking, I think, but I see that Kira Komarov has made some Artillery scripts (and see also here) that might provide the basis for the calculations you'll need the script to do. Innula Zenovka
A voice from beyond has suggested that you might want to play with the effect gravity has on the ball, by using llSetBuoyancy Alternatively, if you don't mind using mesh accounting and if you don't need a particularly large negative buoyancy, you could try playing with llSetPhysicsMaterial to affect how the ball behaves. You've got more tools at your disposal than simply adjusting the angle at which you throw the ball and the force with which you throw it, in other words. dalocogamer
Thank you all for responding to my post. I'm on this project now with a few thoughts on how to go about completing it.
