Solidify Surface Modifier Question!

Can someone give me a tip about this?  I'd like to add the solidify modifier  to an edge of an item without solidifying the entire inside of it.  I know it's possible because I've seen it before but I just can't figure it out!  Help! (Blender 2.6)   :heart:

The solidifiy modifier works on the whole object, as (I think) all modifirs do. If you want to solidify just some faces, then you can select them and use the Mesh->Faces->solidify menu item (or get there via CtrlF S), and set the thickness in the operator parameter area at the bottom of the left panel.

Also if you want to solidify without a thickness. just select the faces you want to show oin the inside and duplicate without moving it at all (shiftD-Enter) and flip the normals
