Question

We are currently in a land that was started by the current sim owner, we have worked the land for over a year, and he has now deeded the land to us.  He has encouraged us to buy the land and move it to a full sim, as he knows the work we are doing is important.  We are also working on going an educational route, we host a musuem, a large indigenous library, Native American Exhibits and an interactive immersive rp experience.  We are educators and past professors and will also offer, art, National standard based lessons, discussions and forums on current tribal issues, etc.

Now where do we go?

One will we get any credit on the set up fee, as it has already been set up and we are currently residing on it?

Two land purchase with educational discount of set up sim. Where do we pay through?

Three billing: how much would we pay monthly then to go to a full sim, and when and how will that be due? by the month? by the six months etc.

Four: Initial approval for education

Five would like to talk to someone directly.

Thank you for your time.

You can get answers to most of those questions by submitting a support case.  Others you can deal with by calling the Linden Lab billing office.  If you have a non-technical issue related to billing concerns, you can call the Linden Lab billing team any time at  800-294-1067.

If you have bought your sim from another resident, there is no setup fee from Linden Lab.  There is a transfer fee ($100, if I remember correctly).  You'll have to set up the educational discount by talking with the billing office.  They will want documentation to show that you are indeed a tax-exempt organization (IRS and state designation).  Billing is normally monthly, but you can request a 6-month billing cycle, with 30 days net.  That, too, is done in a phone call with the billing office.  The land fees will be charged to the account of whoever owns the sims.  The billing office will help you get the proper addresss on the bill so that it is routed to your institution's accounting office.

I am the owner of record on the sim that our organization, a 501©3, has operated in SL since 2006.  We've found that the Linden Lab billing office is generally friendly and easy to deal with, although they (and we) have made some stupid mistakes over the years.

You may want to review information at http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Information-for-educators/ta-p/1364627 and embedded links in it.

Good luck.  :)
