How do I get to stop IM chat from showing up also on local chat?

How do I get to stop IM chat from showing up also on local chat? It is very annoying because one sees it twice, in the IM and then again in Local Chat, the one in local chat is opaque but still there.

As I did with your previous question, I'll give yoiu the Firestorm answer (which I think is the same in V3), but then let someone else embellish for other viewers.  In Firestorm, open Preferences >>> Chat >>> Notifications and UNclick Show IMs in Nearby Chat Window .  That ought to do it.
